Is it fine to lift my 2wd 05 f150? please help
Well, I am finally getting my first truck. My grandpa is selling me his 2005
4-door (5.4 v8) 2WD.
I am looking to get a 6 inch lift kit? preferably a fabtech or a skyjacker, what tires do you reccomend, 34 or 35's? and I am getting probably 18 inch rims.
I have had a few friends tell me not to lift a 2wd truck because it will ruin it. I am NOT gonna take my truck offroad or go mudding with it. This is just a driving around truck or simple stuff on the farm.
Is it okay to lift my 2wd 05 f150?
thanks..

I agree. Your friends are morons.
I'd go with a quality all terrian tire like the BFG AT KO, Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo AT, Pro Comp Xtreme AT, Mickey Thompson ATZ or **** Cepek FC II. If you are worried about milage, the BFG AT KO is available in 305/65-18 which is essentially a 34x12.50 tire.

I just did a Fabtech 6" kit on my 06 4x2 crew cab with Nitto 325/60/20's on Eagle Series 079 wheels. It rubbed like mad while turning. So, I just finished putting a 3" Performance Accessories body lift on it. Now it is perfect! NFab nerf bars are ordered. New grill sitting in the box in my shop. New wrap coming very soon.
Only downfall is you lose a bit of power. Regearing and/or a programmer is probably on the horizon.

Different rim sizes have absolutely no effect on the final drive ratio unless you drive around without tires. The drive ratio is the number tire rotations to cover a distance compared to the RPM. With bigger tires it is like changing to a higher gear on a bicycle and riding from a dead stop. You pedal less but it is much harder TO pedal. By adding larger tires you WILL lose the available power because the engine has to work harder to accomplish the same speeds. You regain SOME of the power by putting in lower gears (higher ratio number) so that the engine can turn faster in relation to the tires.
The tires shouldn't rub with that large of a lift but the search feature will show you plenty of threads where people talk about 6" lifts and 35" tires.
