Upper control arm rubbing...

Hey guys, I have a 2" leveling kit on my 06 XLT (2wd) and the upper control arms on each side are leaning/pressed against my springs, making my ride ridiculously rough...I brought it in to a garage and they said that I might need to find a longer control arm? Not sure what I should do and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it (Im sure some of you are out there) Thanks for the help!

Is that jacked up or with the truck on the ground?

That definitely is not safe.

There are not any longer control arms.

I agree. THose angles are ridicoulous for a 2 inch kit. I really thought the pic was with the truck jacked up with the wheels in the air.

The torn boot is only salt in the wound for BJ wear. Even a 3" level would not put that much of an angle on the control arm. Lets see a picture of the top of the strut/spacer.

What I really don't understand is why the top of the knuckle is in the location it is. May be the picture though.

Well I went to a garage today and they said that Im most likely missing a piece to the leveling kit and was probably installed without it :/ kinda embarrassed that I didnt catch that...anyways they said my best bet would be to just buy a new leveling kit with ALL the pieces this time and redo it...I have no idea what brand mine was so any recommendations on another leveling kit? And should I stay at 2" or go up to 2.5" or 3"? Thanks guys.

Wow, that's BS. There are no "pieces" to the level kit. It is essentially a puck with bolts. The spindle touching the spring is an indication that your kit is probably too big (looks like 3" or more) AND your upper ball joints are shot. I suggest getting a 2" AutoSpring kit (check eBay) and have them replace your upper ball joints (which means two new upper control arms - check Moog stuff from Rockauto.com). To be honest, if it were me, I wouldnt drive that truck until you get it fixed.

Edit: As mentioned above, take pics of the upper portion of the spring pocket so we can get an idea of the size of that leveling kit.

That is BS. Take a shot of your leveling kit so we can deduce what type it is and give you proper advice.

Sounds good guys...Ill take some pics tomorrow...after I came home, I looked online and was that all it was was a solid piece with some bolts so I was a little confused...Also, on the drivers side, that yellow boot looking thing seems to be stuck and doesnt move while the one on the passengers side seems to move up and down...could this indicate a problem too? Again, I appreciate your help guys...Im pretty clueless in the suspension department so you guys are a great help!
