Is the Fabtech worth $760 more than the Pro-Comp?

Here's the deal..... there's a local guy who bought a Pro-Comp 6" stage 1 lift for his truck and decided he didn't want the truck anymore so now he's got it for sale pretty cheap (around $1150). The cheapest price I can get a Fabtech 6" basic lift for is $1910. Is it really worth the extra $760? The main thing I dislike about the Pro-Comp is the crappy looking front cross member. However I'm not too concerned with it since we own a sheet metal fab shop and I can design and laser cut a stainless front skid plate to hide the cross member. So should I go with the Pro-Comp or fork over the extra $750 for the Fabtech?

By the way I've already ordered my wheels which are 20x10 Diamo 17K black/machined. As for tires I'm debating between Nitto Mud Grapplers, Nitto Trail Grapplers, and Toyo Open Country M/Ts.

Dont have any input for the lift but mud grapplers will be the most agressive looking tire, if your willing to sacrifice for a LOT of road noise go for it.

I went from mud grapplers to open countries and the mud grapplers sounded like you were inside a single engine plane/helicopter/southwest airlines, the open countries sound close to the stock pirellis our trucks come with. However I did notice my grapplers rode better on the highway. You can hear the hum at about 30mph and it just gets worse from there!

So get the trail grapplers or open countries!

No worries! Hope I can help and others have some good input as well. Dont forget the LIFT!

Im thinking about a pro comp stage II at this point because I came across a used one for a good price, doesn't have the skid plate though. I have heard the stage II rides kinda rough, anyone have input?

its all personal preference

I can write you a post saying to go with BDS but thats just what i chose.
some people bash the pro comp lift and some have no complaints.
Fabtech seems to be a pretty popular choice either way.

Do some research on the different lifts and decided whats best for you.

I went with BDS, bc of their quality, warranty and price.

for $1,650 i got 6" BDS lift with new front struts, block + AAL in the back, dual steering stabilizers, stainless steel brake lines and a lifetime warranty on the parts.

That's a great price on the BDS kit.

I'll probably go ahead with the Pro-Comp kit because it is a good deal and considering I don't take my truck off-road with the exception of hunting season I don't see why I would have any problems.

Any more opinions?

I have the pro-comp stage 1 and have no complaints so far. My thoughts about the kit are that it is fairly well put together and yet still quite simple. I am pretty easy on mine as well, but you are right the crossmember isn't pretty by any means. Haha mabey you could fab me up a skid plate too while your at it. I also have the nitto mud grapplers, yes they are noisy, but they are amazingly aggressive looking and if you arn't on the highway everyday like myself noise isn't a huge deal. I love them and have gotten plenty of comments on them but like IDNC76 said is all personal preference. Looks like you also have a good sound system so If you get annoyed just turn up the tunes.

Thanks for the info. Did the back end up about 1" lower than the front on your truck? I see that the Pro-Comp comes with a 3" rear block.

Mine sits almost perfectly level, At first I had a set of rancho leveling struts and the front sat 2'' higher, when I put the stock struts back on it leveled it out. I think the way it sits now the front is 1/4'' higher than the back.

That's what I originally wanted so I am somewhat leaning towards them.

seriously consider the trail grapplers. i've been running them for the past few thousand miles. IMO they have good road characteristics, not loud until you hit 60+ mph but if you turn your radio on you don't really notice it.

the mud grapplers won't get more than 25k miles if your lucky from what i've seen.
