Question 4 or 6" lift?

I have a 05 F-150. I plan on running 35x12.50 and cant decide on a 4 or 6 in lift. I also want to use the stock rims. If some of you could post some pic's of trucks with 35s and what size lift you have it would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if the stock rims will still fit without rubbing?

If your even considering a 6inch lift i wouldnt settle for anything smaller. Seen this happen way too many times.

If you want to run your stock rims then you need to go with a 4in rancho but if you are even considering a 6 go with the 6in and you can get spacers for your stock rims until you get new rims.

Go with the 6 inch lift or you will regret not going bigger within 6 months.

My problem is I just bought new Toyos to go on my leveled truck. They are 34.5x11.5. I dont want to go with a 6 in. because it would make my tires look way to small. I plan on getting a 4in. Rough Country and running my tires on my stock rims with the 1.5" spacers I have then when these tires wear out i'm going to bump my Bilsteins up 2" and get 6" rear blocks and run a true 35x12.5.

if your already planning on goin to 6in later on, for what u will spend on a 4in you can get a 6in for about the same price. just seems like a waste of money buyin a 4in then 2" bilstiens later to achieve they same thing you have had in the first place IMO.

I already have the adjustable Bilsteins. I just hate when tires look too small on a truck. So my reasoning for wanting a 4" is because I like how they look, and if I decide I want a 6" later on I can always just bump it up. I think that 8" and 37's is just too big for me, so theyre would be no need for me to get a 6". So I think 4" looks good with my size tires then when the time comes I can just bump my 4" to 6". Does that make sense? lol

I get what your saying, I just would advise that 6'' isn't that high, Most people hear 6'' and think that its pretty high but when it's all said and done 35's pretty much stuff the wheel well of a 6'' lift, I had to trim the lower valence quite a bit so I could fit my tires. Just my opinion. Heres a picture of mine.
I'd run your 34.5's till 70% or so, resell and buy what you want, I personally don't think they would look way to small, If they are toyo MT's it should look fine because they are an aggressive tire look anyway.

I didn't have to trim my valence with these tires. The backspacing on yours must be way out there. I think i'm just gonna go with the 4" because I don't really want to sell these tires. I'd rather just run them till there gone. I think i'll just get the 4" and run it at 5" and forget about it. I'm just tired of thinking about it. lol I mean its only an inch anyways!

hhmmmmm, Ok if you think you will be happy with it, but I gotta say I don't know any guy who would turn down an extra inch.

What does everyone think about this? My tires I have now to me only look good with 4-5" of lift. But I know as soon as these tires wear down i'm going to want a 6" and true 35's. So can I get the 6" and instead of running the 6" spacer put my Bilstein shocks at 2" of lift and put a 3" spacer on top essentially only lifting the front of the truck 5"? To me it would sound like putting a 1" drop on a factory ride in the front. Or maybe only put a 2.5" depending on which one I liked best. Then when I want to go higher i'll still have that extra 3" to use. Does this sound like it will work guys?? If it does i'll probably order the lift tomorrow. Thanks!

Ok are you ready for my rant.....
I can feel your frustration..I've been debating the 4, 6, or leave it as is with a leveling kit on. While I agree that going from a 4 to a 6 isnt that much more, I think like a 150.00 at least for the lift I was looking at.

For me there are other factors involved that keeps me from making a decision.

1. I want to run my stock wheels and tires in the winter months. Alot of people here dont have to worry about that or dont change them out. I have been unable to figure out kit brand, and size wise which would allow me to do this. Seems as EVERYONE including the installer has there own idea as to whether or not it will work. Im not willing to spend this much money only to find out I cant put my stockers back on for the winter.

2. My current aftermarket wheels. Will they rub or wont they. NO ONE wants to commit an answer to whether or not they will work. Once again im not willing to spend this much money only to find out I cant run my aftermarket wheels that I have, only to find out I need to buy different aftermarket wheels to make it work after the fact.

3. Tire size.. current set up is 305/55/20 are they going to look like Bicycle tires with a 6inch lift? If so then maybe the 4inch lift will look ok.

4.Looking at my wheels/tires they dont stick out that much from the truck. Is this going to look goofy on a lifted truck?

5. Rake of the lift, some lifts look like they have a lot of rake to them. Im kinda wanting as close to level maybe within a 1/2 for towing purposes.

6. I dont want to have to end up regearing. At what point does this happen?

7. When does getting beefer brakes come into play?

8. What other things come into needing replacing by going with a 6 over the 4?

9. What the best 'Riding' lift kit, I dont want to feel like im driving a semi truck
and do you go with a block and add a leaf or just the leaf spring for the rear.

10. I was looking at just getting a 4inch lift, thought it would suit me just fine..until....I saw a used truck at a dealership with a 6inch lift. Now Im back on the 4 or 6 lift debate on top of all these other issues.

11. 4 inch would definitely be easier to get in and out of the truck and stuff out of the bed then the 6. But since im already running a 2 inch spacer up front. Another 2 inch lift in front hardly seems worth it.

12. Whats the best kit to get for someone that will not be offroading all that much but still have a decent kit that will hold up in case one does go offroad.

I know I probably didnt help you much but hopefully someone here can help clear some of it up for us.
