I have a 04 f150 larit crew with 57k and would like to know what is the best shocks for a smouth ride.

Rancho rs9000xl set to a light setting with Michelin cross terrain SUV tires.

 

I personally think the Bilstens (5100's or HD's...exact same internals) has a pretty smooth ride. Much softer than I expected after riding in my dads '07 with them. I have the HD's on some other vehicles and they are rock solid (which I like), which surprised me when I saw how soft they were on these trucks.

 

I went with the RS9000 XL and Quick lift shocks. Love the fact that I can stiffen them up when I need to and soften them as well.

 

ive been looking at gettingg the rranchos and ditching the spacer i have. one question thought. i know you have the reruse the factory spring but how about the dust shield? can you use a shock boot instead? see, i had my pass. side shock rod beak at the nut and didnt realize it until the damageg was done. the metal piece that snaps the dust shield in place got bent and now the dust shield does not stay on. that bent piece did not come with tghe new strut either. if you know please let me know exatly what comes in the box with the quick lift strut. thanks
