Arrow 4.6 and 35"s???

I'm going to lift my truck (Rancho 4") and put 35" tires on it. I only have the 4.6 and was wondering if I am going to have some drawback on power and if so, how much? I know there will be some granted I'm going from 31" to 35" tires but what would be the best way to get it back- should I get a Gryphon or attempt to save up for gears (If so which ones). THX for any help

get the gryphon and gears.

I went with Yukon for gears. you can go with 4.56's or if you plan on going with a bigger tire one day or tow alot go with 4.88's.

4.6 here. I had this set up before and used a Superchips. Headed back to 35,s very soon. The 4.6 is a pig compared to the 5.4 but all depending what you are wanting.

MmmBuckles -I already have a custom exhaust and the gotts mod for the intake.
fiveohpoepoe -what do you mean as far as "pig"?
and IDNC -is that the normal gear setup (4.56) for guys with 35"s?

But what should I get first is what I'm saying- getting the gryphon sooner or waiting longer to get the gears (because of cost), what would be the most benificial?

gears will be the most beneficial. but it will throw your speedo off. you might as well save up and get the gryphon and gears at the same time.

the whole speedo thing- ok if I just figure out that its 5mph off or something then I just go 5mph +/- haha it shouldn't be that hard to remember because the tires will throw me off anyways also. How much would those gear cost me with and without install?

Jacked, I mean the 4.6 with the gears Im running[factory] is very soft on acceleration and pick up. Just my .02 but I bet most would agree. The SC 1715 helped a little but my last 99 Expy with the 5.4 was much more responsive. For my use, it does the job and I just have to remember its not one of my past Mustangs

most guys with 35s go with 4.56's. since you have a 4.6 , you might want to look into 4.88's. the low end power/ acceleration would be a night and day difference. the rpms might be abit high on the highway tho.
Re-gearing was the best mod i have done so far.

Im not too familiar with the gryphon, if you bought the tuner first, would you be able to adjust the gear ratio afterwards or would you have to send it back for more custom tunes, that would be my only concern with getting the tuner first.
If you went with an edge it wouldnt matter, you can adjust it whenever you get the gears.

If you have a 4x4, your looking at about $1,500 for parts and labor to re-gear.

I have a 4.6 and 35s. I am running yukon 4:56s, and my truck accelerates better/faster with 35s than it did when I ran close to stock sized tires and stock gearing. My rpms at 75mph are around 2400 or so in overdrive. On a good tank of gas I will get about 16-17mpg, but I do have an Edge programmer. My speedo is 5mph faster than how fast I am actually going (therefore 45 on my speedo is really me going 40).

i have a 4.6 with only 33's from 31's and the power difference to me was pretty unbearable.. im in the middle of installing 4.10's... if you dont tow or you drive mostly flat land you might tolerate it, but 35's i dont know, the difference was pretty big though...

not meaning to thread steal, but has anyone who runs 5.4 had problems running 35's without regearing. I might go with 33's if id have to regear.

the motor doesn't matter, the transmission takes the brunt without a proper gear
