Rancho Quick Lift question?

Has anybody used this kit before and if so how is it? It says it can be adjusted with a remote also for a few hundred bucks more. Need new tires soon and was wanting to go to 33's on my OEM 20's so I want to do the safest level it there is. Thanks

Thumbs up

I just ordered mine a couple of days ago. Didn't get the wireless remote adjuster yet though.

For what I have seen everyone is happy with the setup.

After doing some researching I decided to go with the Rancho QL vs the Bilstein 5100's just for the ride adjustment option. I'll eventually get the wireless remote cuz I'll probably get tired of crawling under to turn the adjuster *****.

I'm looking at getting the biggest tires for my stock FX4 rims that will fit without rubbing. I think LT305/70/18 or LT305/60/18... not sure.

I'll be installing my R-QL this weekend and will definitley report back with pictures of before and after.

The adjustable Ranchos are awesome shocks but if you live in a sub-freezing climate, don't bother with the remote system accessory. I installed the remote system this past year and air control devices just don't like freezing temps. The system constantly leaked air and the compressor locked up so I uninstalled and put the manual adjusters back on. I've found the right combination for me with the manual adjustors and haven't found the need to change the settings.

Talking Installed

I finally got them installed toady. Man the retaining nut on top of the strut is a pain in the a$$. If it wasn't for those damn things it would have been a real breeze to do. Overall it wasn't that bad though.

The improved ride was well worth the trouble.

enjoy the pics... still trying to upload some more but having issues for some reason.

before...

after...

Did you happen to measure the exact amount of lift gained on your truck...like a before and after measurement??

Can you take a measurement from the center of the hub straight up to the bottom of the fender lip?

I forgot to get the pre-measurement but I'll get you the after measurement later this afternoon.

I know that Rancho moved the coil seat up 1- 3/4" from stock.

did i mention that these things ride very nice.

QuickLift

So was that a 3/4 inch lift? I thought these were basically a levelling kit with shocks? I'm thinking about doing this setup, but don't want it level, just a little bit higher and some better suspension

I found my before measurements an it was at 21-3/4" - 22" (had them written down somewhere...) So I did get a full 2" lift out of the deal. It isn't exactly level but that was what I wanted. Just a slight bit of rake. I think you would enjoy the setup, I know I do. A lot of leveling spacers tend to make the truck look high in the front and people have had to put spacer-blocks in the rear as well.

Yes they do suck and are pretty much non-existent.
They are fairly simple to change out the only tough part was removing the old struts from the spring. all of the bolts that you will be working with will be metric.

1. removes wheel/tire
2. remove upper ball joint nut and tie-rod nut
3. remove the bottom strut mount bolt (mark the location of the strut with a piece of chalk...alignment lines)
4. remove three top nuts(on top of strut tower) and remove the strut.
5. take your new struts and old assembly to someone to swap them if you dont have the ability. wouldn't recommend using the bolt on spring compressor though. the spring press is the way to go.
6. once you have them swapped. install in reverse order. bottom shock bolt requires 350ft lbs of torque. the rest I cant remember.

good luck and let me know if you need help... I'd be glad to assist via phone if need be.

I have one more question. I have a 2.5" spacer in my truck already. i need new shocks thats why i went with the rancho's. there are 3 bolts at the top of the tower are these part of the space or will i re-use the when i put the spring back to the stock location. does that make sense.

If I am understanding you correctly. You will be using them with or w/o the spacer. Those top three nuts are what steady the top of the coil system to the vehicle.
