Whats wrong with the mud grapplers? I know you don't get the best of miles with them but I really like the tread pattern and a lot of people run them on this site. A lot of people say you can get 25-30k out of them. I'd like to hear your opinion, as I have asked for your opinion on tires before. Ended up going with the IROKs for the f250 not sure if you saw my mudding pics. As for gears I'm gonna see how it runs when I get the tires on and make a decision from there. Patman, wish I had more of a cali lean than the front being lower lol.

I had mud grapplers on my truck and I got about 35k on them before I replaced them. I loved those tires. Even though they were loud.

When I worked for my dad I was in charge of his crew trucks tire rotations, oil changes, brake jobs etc. Well that also included his personal truck a 2005 dodge power wagon, he went with a set of mud grapplers as his first set of tires after the bfg ta ko's came off (never wore them down just wanted something different) well every 3-5k miles I did his oil change and tire rotation. He struggled to get over 12.5k miles out of them. They were loud as ****, and wore down faster than my 33" boggers did, and couldn't even keep up with my tsl's offroad. They balanced better than my tsl's when they were new but after losing their balance it took a lot of weight to get them balanced the second and third time. A some of people will say they get X amount of miles out of them, but from the ones I've seen they are all bald by 25k miles. But then again some people will run tires till the belts are showing, while others will replace them when they start looking like slicks. I start looking for new tires when mine hit 1/4" tread, then by the time they are down to 1/8 they are replaced because they serve no purpose for me with what I do. My radial tsl's last over 30k miles and I sold them for $600 so you know they had some tread left.

Dirtbound is a member on here, ask him about his mud grap expierence, he got I believe 23k on his and I saw what they looked like.

Now I will say this, a lot of how long tires will last depends on the driving you will be doing. Short trips won't heat up tires as much as long trips so you will notice more wear on a multi hour trip then you would see on a weeks worth of short trips. I'd your towing frequently knock off a few more miles, more weight equals more friction eguals faster wear.

Thats makes sense. My expedition doesn't tow and its only for around town use and maybe to the beach in daytona or new smyrna which is only an hour away, but other than that just around town. Thanks for your opinion, I guess I'll just keep them rotated religously to get as much wear out of them as I can.

Never thought about how long trips affect tire wear. I usually just drove less than 20 miles on a given trip around town. So I guess they lasted longer with me than someone that drove on the interstate frequently.

What do you guys recommend for gears? Thats one thing that I'm completely unsure about now. I don't do towing and I'm not on the highway much, just mostly around town roads anywhere from 30-55mph

4:56s

Maybe I am biased.. 4:88s would be good for take off speed.

Thats what I was figuring. I just read up on a pretty cool chart that gave information that I believe it pretty correct. http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm you guys agree with this chart?

I was thinking 4.56s like b2. Trimble, don't you think 4.88s would be geared to high with 35s? I'm pretty sure my gas milage would really be bad with that haha. Heres some more pics, finished the painting on the front and rear bumpers and got them mounted up. Still haven't got my grille powdercoated yet so I need to get that done. Need to fix my front bumper a little too, I'm not liking the gap and I still have some adjustment so I need to fix it.
