susupension travel on my 03 with 6 inch fabtech

Would like to know the shock specs on my 03 with 6 inch fabtech, want to run a better shock upfront and back...something like a 7100 bilstein or a 2.0 Fox remote...

Here's a copy I of an email I recieved from Fabtech about the same subject. Theses are shock lengths for their 97-03 6" kit.
Here you go,

Front 21.1 to 15.6

Rear 29.1 to 16.8

Thanks

I bought the 5150s for the rear because the 4-6" lifted 5100's I originally had were too short when I added the BDS 6" lift leafs. They were fully extended at rest. I suspect that the same issue is occuring with the front 5100 set, but to a lesser extent. So I have yet to replace the fronts. Which I will eventually replace with longer travel 5150's, but trying to save for gears,BL, and 38"s right now.

If I was buying new shocks right now, I'd go with the longer 5150's.....

Fox makes bolt in replacemtn 2.0's for 97-03's look into those. They come valved for our trucks. Wont get better perf. than those untill you ditch the fabtech and go to real suspension..not a lift.

Your ball joints are what limit your performance.

They may not be on Fox's site just yet..but they exist. They are the screw in top style.. Same as the rear.

What all does the 6in lift include..Drop down bracket and spindle, or coil and spindle?

Most likely a bit longer shock wont make any diff. being as you dont have enough Wheel travel to use all of the shocks travel. If you go with a longer shock..The body lenght is all that matter, since you wont come anywhere close to full bump with a lift kit. nor full droop.

The best way to find the exact shock you want, is to take your coil and shock out, Bump the suspension out..Measure the lower shock tab to the upper shock mount. to find Collapsed lenght, and them droop it out and measure again to find extended lenght.

Or you can get these, and run any normal fox shock with standard eyelets
http://www.chaosfab.com/toyaccess_misc.html

Scroll down to the pin to eyeley style shock conversion. and read about it..you will need to order the shocks with narrow misaligns.

Then just order up a shock with an extended and collapsed lenght of Front 21.1/15.6 and your good to go. a fox 2.0 8in stroke should be just fine..maybe 10in stroke.

but those adapters look like your best and easiest option and ability to run whatever shock you want, not a special "ford" one.

Or give www.polyperformance.com a look and a call. very helpful. Say your from dezertrangers and get a little discount. They deal fox and Total chaos, so should be able to set you up. i believe they always have some fox specials and free shipping on them, not to mention a free rebild or valve of something like that,

The lift spindle wont change your shock lenght at all, since it just moves the hub mounting point down, not the suspension. the drop bracket is what will make you need hte longer shock lenght.

but just take those 21.1/15.6 and order some shocks and those adapters.

And go with fox..not bilstien..spend your $$$ once and right. the fox's are completely rebuildable and revalaveable. shock will last you a life time.

With the Front 21.1 to 15.6, Rear 29.1 to 16.8 lengths. How much larger can I get away with without having an issue. Because I can't find a shock close to that size I like. There are fox ones that are 15.2 inch Collapsed would that .4 make it bottom out?
