7050# GVWR Package

I was looking over my original window sticker and was wondering if anyone could clarify what was changed or added to come up with these options. I've noticed that my truck rides a lot firmer than some others that I have been in. I figured it was because of the factory 20" wheels and 275/55/20 tires which probably don't have much sidewall flex. But maybe it has something to do with the options shown below? Or would my leveling kit change the stiffness of the ride?
1. 7050# GVWR package 2. Trailer tow package

Neither would make it ride that much firmer. Many have a 7200lb GVWR package, and the top is 8200lb. What are you comparing to?

Before I bought this truck I drove another one (same year / make) and it rode smoother. I'm not sure if it had the options shown above but it did have smaller wheels/tires, I think they were stock 18". So I was just wondering if this factory installed weight package had anything to do with the stiffer ride (different springs/coils)? Or if it was just the rims/tires which were the difference? I know its a truck but I was just trying to figure things out. I was thinking about going with Bilstein ride height adjustable shocks to see if it would help, instead of the leveling kit. I did not want to waste the money however if it wasn't going to do anything. Thanks Jesse

My experience with Bilstein is they make it firmer, but not harsher. Personally I want the firmer. It may be the smaller sidewall tires. I prefer the 17" over the 18 and 20 for not other reason than a better selection of tires. I also prefer the LT tires over the P series, which I believe the Pirellis are. Again for a firmer ride with better lateral support and cornering.

I also now see you have a 2wd, which would make the 7050lb GVW equivalent to the 4x4 7200lb, which may make a little difference.

So it sounds like the Bilsteins probably would not help reduce the stiffness, if anything it may make it worse. How about changing my stock tires (275/55/20) with a little higher sidewall. Maybe a BFG AT and going up to 285/65/20. Think this would help any on the ride?

It might, but I am not sure you can go any bigger on a 2wd without a lift, or a least a leveling kit.
