Installing a 3 inch Body Lift
Installing a 3 inch Body Lift
I'm fixing to order a 3 inch body lift from performance accessories. I already have a 6 inch rough country lift. I just wanted some feedback of the possible "problems" that I may encounter when installing. I heard someone say that the gear shifter on the console will sink and that alot of the cables will be to short. Any help is appreciated.
I haven't installed one on an 04-08 truck but PA does a great job of addressing issues like that. I've never seen a post about those issues with an 04-08. As a general tip, wash the underneath side of your truck and start spraying all of the body mount bolts with penetrating oil right now.
^ I agree clean it as much as possible. The steering extension may give yah a little trouble getting it off. Took me like 30 mins haha. Ive never heard about the gear shifter cables like that. But TAKE YOUR TIME and go SLOW. Its very time consuming. I have a picture album that shows a little bit of my body lift install.
Installed 3" PA on 02 ranger two years ago. The only problem i ran into/snaped bolt taking it out on very front mount both front mounts have to be drilled out 1/2" anyways so center punched and drilled out old bolt. Use 3/4 ratchet with long pipe to get stubborn bolts out! I did install by myself [with wife safely in house]
in two days. PA instructions & pics i found easy to follow! I have 2" coming in mail soon for my 2000F150 will do it when weather is above freezing

i put one on my 97 and it was very time consuming, not really hard, but the cab is a b****. perf acc makes a good lift but the instructions that came in mine looked like someone spilt coffee all over it and i had to print another one out on my computer. good luck.
If at all possible have a plasma cutter and a welder on hand for the back bumper. You have to cut the bumper supports, add in a piece of square tube, and then weld it. Not hard if you have the right tools, but the whole thing is very time consumeing.
