BDS 6" with "strut spacer"?

Hey everyone, once this Colorado snow is done for the season I'm putting a 6" suspension lift on my truck. I was originally going to go with the Pro Comp Stg II lift but someone recently introduced me to BDS suspensions and I noticed they have a 6" lift for about the same price with a full leaf (not AAL) in the rear which is awesome. the only problem is that it comes with a "strut spacer" i was wondering if anyone knew anything about this? also does anyone have a preference between the two (procomp stg II vs BDS)? I particularly like the adjustable coilovers up front with the procomp but i would prefer full leafs rather than two blocks in the rear.

if you go to BDS's website you will see they have different options. Front can be either spacer or replacement shocks and rear can be either a block and add a leaf or new leaf packs. It all depends on what you want and what your budget is. you can also go with a 8" for just a few hundred more

Both lifts are fine and there is nothing wrong with any of the options. However, from the reviews I've read, the BDS is a little better quality with a better warranty.

so the "strut spacer" keeps the factory coils and factory struts up front or the kit without the "strut spacer" gives you new coils and new struts up front? thanks for the replies

if i go with BDS i'm definitely going with the full leaf and new front struts/coils but now you all have me stuck between 6" and 8"

the only difference between the 6 and the 8 is the front shocks or spacers, everything else about the kit is exactly the same...even the amount of lift in the rear is the same. If you are even considering the 8 i would go for it.

Ok if you are even considering getting an 8inch then get that instead. You will kick yourself in the butt if you dont. Yes you can get a leveling kit to get a total of 8inch up front but then your maxed out up front unless you go with a totally different lift. So go with an 8inch and if you wanna go bigger you can add a leveling kit on top of that.

What size tires do you plan on running? Keep in mind running 37s+ you will need to re gear and thats an added cost of 1500-2000 parts/labor

with any other 8" lift you would be right but BDS takes a different approach. Their 8" kit is actually a 6" with longer front shocks or longer spacer. So technically it is maxed out.

So saying that why get the BDS 8inch lift if he is already thinking about going 8inches of lift and be maxed out right there with suspension?? He wouldnt be able to throw a leveling kit on there. So IMO get an 8inch lift for example an 8inch rize and if you want to go bigger later add a leveling kit. Then your at 10inches of lift. But if you do the bds 8inch your only other option is a 3inch body lift

because if you are considering a 6" from the start he is already going 2" more then he originally wanted right? besides the price difference between a 8" BDS and 8" RIZE is huge. The upgrade from 6 to 8 BDS is $200. Not to mention it you want to go more the 8" you will need custom driveshafts, 4.88 gears, custom brake lines ect...

Ok but if hes thinking about going 8inches of lift anyways then hes prob gonna have to regear unless hes gonna run 35s.. This is my opinion and i saw save up for the Rize 8inch lift. Drive shaft you can have lenghtened. Brake lines $120 for the rear. But then again OP its your choice not mine just thought id throw my .02 in there

The difference between a strut spacer and a replacement strut is important. A kit with a strut spacer will basically put a "hat" on top of your factory strut. You will replace the rear shocks with ones from the kit.
A replacement strut is just that, a new strut that is not only longer, but valved for the weight of the larger tire and wheel that you will now be running. Your truck will give you a better ride because the valving in your new rear shocks will match the valving in your new front strut.
