Replace the Rancho's
Replace the Rancho's
Hey guys
Its time to replace the rancho 5000's. Ive had them on for about 4 years and 100,000 miles. When i got them i think they had a life time warranty. Does anyone one else remember that and how do I go about having that warranty own up.

Ummmm, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that warranty is against manufacturing defects and not normal wear and tear from a life well served...i.e. 100,000 miles.
Good luck though and please let us know the results of that phone call.

This is true, they're warrantied against defects, not normal wear and tear. 100,000 miles is an long life for shocks, you got your money's worth.

compare to bilstein warranty...............
Bilstein is world famous for manufacturing some of the most durable, longest lasting shocks available.
In fact, the 5100 Series shocks are comprised of components originally designed for off-road
motorsports. Bilstein is so confident that these shocks will out last your vehicle that we back the
product with a Limited Lifetime Aftermarket Warranty. If a Bilstein shock fails during normal wear and
tear, you’ll get a new shock absolutely free.

Yes, read your warranty link...it says what we're saying it says. "Warranted against defects in materials or workmanship". Your normally worn out shocks at 100,000 miles do not fall into this category...quite the contrary, if these shocks performed well for 100,000 miles you have just proven that there was obviously no defects in these parts.
I think you are having trouble grasping the difference between "failed" and "worn out".
For comparison sake, think of it this way (because this is you)...A set of tires with 50,000 miles on them worn clean down to the wear bars. Try rolling into Americas Tire or calling GoodYear and tell them you want your tires replaced under warranty and see what that gets ya!
You get an A for effort, but this isn't going to net you a new set of shocks.

My understanding is that if you're the original purchaser, and you'd need your receipt to prove that, then if you wear them out, they will replace them under warranty. The finish is not covered, however.
The Rancho r5000 shocks are warranted for life under normal conditions and are on the same vehicle they were purchased for... This info is taken directly from their warranty page... www.gorancho.com/assets/support.swf
