suspension gurus needed!
i have posted on here many times about shocks/coilovers and this one is related as well
it is my understanding that the 2wd struts are 2'' shorter than the 4wd correct?
if this is the case could i install a set of 2wd springs on my cranked 5100s and keep the same amount of lift? should make for softer ride?
i might be out in left field on this but i thought i would throw it out there anyhow. cuz it seems to me that when you crank the 5100 you are compressing the spring 2'' making it stiff as hell. so if you were to install a spring that didnt need compressing ride should be smoother?? any input would be great!

I believe you ar correct in that the struts are shorter on a 2wd but the coils are the same length just softer. I'm not sure that you would gain as much lift from them via the Bilstein route though.
By the way, your bed cover shipped out on Friday through FedEx.... should be there soon

when you adjust the 5100s you are increasing the preload on the spring which gives you lift. If you install a softer spring from a 2wd(not sure if they are different or not)you will gain less lift because it will not have the same preload...softer spring=less preload...keep in mind your stiff ride is also whats giving you your lift. It works the same way as cranking torsion bars. The only way to get a factory ride is with a spacer that does not change spring preload and mounts to the TOP of the strut such as an autospring.
