2003 f-150 smaller lift

I have an '03 FX4 supercrew with a 6-inch fabtech lift and 35's. It looks good enough, but I've decided it's too tall. I'm looking for suggestions on how to bring it back down a bit. A kid at the local off road equipment shop said he is isnt aware of a middle size lift kit - it's either stock or 6-inch - and he thinks a leveling kit would still have tire rub, even if I went down to 33's. My ideal would be to be 2 to 3 inch lift, and keep the 35's, and have a nice offroad capable ride (fabtech ended up sucking in that regard as well - way too hard a ride).
thanks for any advice

take the Fabtech off. Put it back to stock add a 3" body lift.

If you think the fabtech sucked offroad then you will not have any better luck with any other suspension lift offered for that truck. Torsion Bar suspension isnt known for its offoad prowless or even its soft ride on the street (after lifting)

It will be a lot of work to remove the 6 inch Fabtech. I'd try some better (Bilstien) shocks and maybe back off the preload on the torsion bars to lower the truck an inch or two.
