4" Rancho Lift help
4" Rancho Lift help
Just recently i been having problems with the front end of my truck, probly because i went the cheap route and bought a 2.5" level kit. I had to replace the bal joints and various other parts. ON my truck now i just have a 2.5 level kit and a 1.5 aal.
So now i am really thinking about taking the plunge into buyin a 4" Rancho Level kit so i can still sit up high and keep the 33"s fitting nice.yuuppppp!!
does anyone have any opinions on this lift and i really want to see some pics.!!!!! And how much did u pay for it.
i have a 05 white stx.
Thanks

I've had it for almost two years now. Great lift and I'd choose it again. I had a 2.5" leveling kit and after I had a torn cv boot I decided to take it off and get the Rancho. I installed it and think it is a very strong lift, I really like the one piece subframe design. I got mine on sale at 4wheelparts.com for $1,800 which included the shocks. I'm running 35's with mine, but another reason I chose the Rancho is because 33's look good on it also. A lot of people are going to tell you to just get a 6" lift or you'll regret it... But I don't regret it at all.
VTHokie, wanted to thank you for your help with a lot of my decisions, you helped me out a GREAT deal and actually hope to ahve my truck look a lot like yours just only with 17" wheels. Im also probably going to go with the Rancho 4" lift as well. One thing im wondering, because i know some stuff about truck and parts, but not familair with gearing or the steering. What all things would you probably add or upgrade part wise with a lift with like gears or anything so some of the parts don't wear out faster?
ToughSTX i appologize though, i don't mean to try n steal your thread, just didn't want to start a new thread on the same kind of topic.

Ffemt432, hope I'm steering you in a good direction, you can't blame if you don't like the final result.. LoL! I think the only wear parts that would be affected are ball joints from running larger tires. Not sure if aftermarket offers anything better than stock. Anybody? I know upper control arms are offered with some heavy duty joints but not sure about any lower upgrades.
As far as gearing goes, what do you have now? I have 3.73 gears. I don't think it's bad at all with 35's. A bunch of people have upgraded to 4.56 gears running 35's and love it. I may upgrade gears later, once I get some cash and figure out which ratio fits me the best.

I second the sentiment above...VTHokie's truck pushed me to the Rancho lift as well! Stilll a great looking truck! Thanks again!

Ok, thanks VTHokie. Im pretty sure, actually positive il be happy with the final result, because i really like how your truck sits. Im hopin the tires and wheels choice will go good with it. Im also glad to know that there shouldnt be a lot of parts wearing out. I wasn't sure if there would be or not.
how high is it from the ground to the hood and the ground to the top of the cab? i have a leveling kit right now and like how it is but i want to see how much higher it is than my truck as it sits now.
I think the 4" Rancho is a great kit as well. I helped install the kit on my friends 05 Screw, easy install and it came out great. I want to get it for my truck and run 35s.
VTHookief150, what did you do to lift the rear of your truck? just the block and shocks that come with the kit?

Zabeard, I only used what came in the kit. I like how it sits and I haven't hooked a trailer up to see what happens, but I'm hoping to get a car hauler soon and I'll find out.
Toughstx, your kit came with the skid plate? It was a $300 option when I got mine. I would love to see what it looks like so take a bunch of pics! I've thought about getting it, but it's a lot of money for a skid plate.

awesome so you just have the 2.5" block?
how much weight are you planning on towing? i love the stance of yours too. i will need to come up with some new mounts for my air bags. i tow around 7000lbs pretty frequently. it will be interesting to see how yours does.
that is all if i decide for sure to buy the lift. haha

Yeah, just the block included with the kit. Did your friend do something different with the rear setup? I'm also planning on towing around 7000 lbs, but I don't believe I'll be doing it frequently. I'm hoping I don't have to change anything!
