What is worn out?

Today, I put a new Neutral Safety Switch on my truck and while i was under there i inspected a few things and everything looks great to be on a 22 year old truck except on thing. The front axle is close to the bump stop things (those black rubber things on the frame rail) about 4" from them. Is 4" about right on a 88 F250? The shocks look brand new. Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

Not sure about what "normal" is on that truck, but shocks do not affect ride height unless they are made to, air shocks, etc. If low, my guess is either it has been lowered, or the springs have sagged.

I don't think it has been lowered it spent the last 21 years as a farm truck hauling cows to the slaughter house. Probably sagged front coils, I wana lift it anyway so it isn't that big a deal.

Thanks!
