Add-a-leaf?

Hey guys, I was considering doing a 1 or 2 inch body lift in the rear only to level my truck out, but I saw in someones sig about a 2" add-a-leaf lift? Do you guys have opinions on this and do you think it would be sufficient on my truck?

Thanks in advance!

I would deff. do an AAL to get the rear from sagging. A body lift cannot be done to only half of the truck, if you do the bed will raise up and the truck will look worse than sagging.

Disregard that last one - I see now that you buy the kit and it adds between 1.5 to 2.5 inches. I am curious if the prev. owner had it like this to avoid rubbing on the front tires when turning sharp...

well first off a body lift is a series of spacers that lift up the cab and the bed of the truck off the frame so this will do nothing for sagging.
raising the height of the rear will not make it rub on the front just fyi

I have the add a leaf on mine. Bought it of eBay from sandyriver (something like that) it came in a pro comp box with my torsion keys. Can't say it added two inches. Prob 1/2 to 3/4 inches. It is nice for towing and doesn't change the ride a lot. If I was you I would just buy some 2 inch blocks and longer U-bolts. BTW nice truck!!!

I'll be honest - I got it from a dealer and I am not really sure what the lift is. I am just getting into all this stuff but I'm eager to learn. So if I took some pics do you guys think you could identify some stuff? I know I have Rancho shocks, and I saw some blocks in the u-bolts. Thats about all I can answer.

It sounds like you already have a block and aal kit back there. Are there any markings on the front cross member? Can you take a close-up pic of the compression strut brackets? That might tell us what lift kit you have. FYI, Rancho makes kits, but that does not mean it's a Rancho lift, lots of people run Rancho shocks with other lifts.

I'll get the pics as soon as my wife comes home with the camera in a couple hours. I don't think I have a AAL because there are only 4 leaf springs... Sounds normal?

XL34-5059-DA is all I see stamped on my Crossmember. I believe it's a fabtech lift because on the bar (looks like a crossmember but farther back) where my torsion bars connect into has a fabtech stamp on it. Also the (what I call a deer catcher) brush guard on the front has a 1/4 inch thick steel plate that has fabtech cut out of it. So I guess it was a fabtech lift with Rancho shocks. My question is if he already has AAL on the back and it still sags this low, what the heck is wrong? lol I will still try and get pics in a couple hours.

Thanks in advance guys - any insight you can give... If AAL is the way to go I will get all over that.

I think there are two options. One is replace the block in the rear with a bigger one. Another option that might be easier to lower your torsion bar keys. This will level it out and make it ride smoother. Just make sure you have enough room to flex and turn. I'm thinking the keys are cranked up and posibly could have a aftermarket set installed. Just check the bolt on the torsion key so see how far it is threaded in. Also if you go that route, you will probably need an allignment.

Ok from that response - if I did a larger block would that be a standalone change or would it drive other maintenance, and as for the torsion keys I don't want it any lower I prefer the back to be raised to level but I appreciate that input.

So why add a larger block and not add-a-leaf?

I just measured my block and its 3 in. tall and 2.5in wide. Do you think that a 5 in lifting block would be safe and that my current rear shocks can support it?
