ball joints

My 2000 f150 4x4 4.6, 90,000miles.. Brought in for alignment and was told lower ball joints need replacing. Should I just get both upper and lower done at same time. Dealer wants $1037 for both including alignment. Or just get lower's done.

I'd replace all four. If two are worn out, the other two ar not far behind. Also, that sounds a little high, even for a dealership. My dealer ship replaced all four of mine and the idler arm for under $1000.

This the quote.
$157 upper arm
$79 lower ball joint
$486 labor
$79.95 alignment.
Total price both sides $1037.
They are charging me full price for parts. I can order parts online for half the price.
Another dealer quoted me just lower ball joints, parts 156 labor 312
Uppers 425 parts and labor.
There is a local shop that I can try. The guy does good work

I saw an entire NEW parts kit to rebuilt front end on Ebay...I can't remember what year it was for...upper and lower control arms, ball joints, I think tie rod ends...less than $200. This was not just one side but both.
