Squeek or chirping sound help
Squeek or chirping sound help
I have an '04 FX4 F150 SCrew, with 2.5" daystarr leveling kit up front, 20x9 wheels, with 33's.
When driving down the road i can hear a chirping or squeeking noise??
I tried talking to a lacal shop and the guy told me that our trucks are notorious for the either the upper or lower ball joints going out?? I can kinda replicate the sound by jumping on the step rail. but I cannot narrow down where its coming from?? does this make sense?? I did some price shopping and replacing the upper and lower is some pretty expensive stuff!!
As always any advice is grratly appreciated!

If it sounds like bed springs squeaking, try greasing all the moving parts, if that dont work, replace your ball joints... Other items you may want to replace while there, Idler Arm and Pitman Arm, goodluck
daystar is a urethane spacer.
I'm no mechanic, so please forgive my ignaorance. But don't get me wrong I can change the oil, fuel filter etc..
But as previously stated the 2004-2008 have upper and lower balljoints? again IDK.. a local mechanic told me that?
oh and thanks guys for looking.. and if it is the ball joint(S?) about how much should i expect to pay?

Squeak and/or chirp
I have an '05 F-150 that did the same thing, only while I was going down the road. I dealt with it for a couple of months until I finally had time to get really investigate. I had my friend push down on the rear bumper while I walked around the truck to pin-point the source of the noise. It was coming from the driver rear shock bushing. Come to find out, I could turn the bolt with a wrench. I put a wrench on both the bolt head and the nut, tightened them down a little more so that the bushing would compress a little. VOILA!!
No more sqeaking or chirping. I don't know if this is the solution to your problem, but it's worth a look.

Well, I know some urethane spacers have been known to squeak but it also sounds like a ball joint. I would def give the front end a thorough inspection......or crank up the volume lol.
