2WD vs. 4WD lowering question

Just tryin to get an idea..

If someone was to take a 2WD screw and 4WD screw (identical except for the fact one is 2WD and the other is 4WD)... and put a 3.5"/5" drop and 23 inch wheels on both trucks... would they sit exactly the same? or would one sit higher or different etc.?

The 4x4 would still be 2 inch taller than the 4x2, just like when they were stock. Just like a 4x4 would still be 2 inches taller than the 4x2 if you installed a 6 inch suspension lift and 35 inch tires on both.

Huh? So If I do a 3.5/5 on my 4WD, Im "really" gaining 1.5/3??? What I plan is the 3.5 DJM in the front and remove the 2" blocks in the back with 3" leafs.

No. Lowering a truck 3.5 inches will lower it 3.5 inches. It doesn't matter if it's a 4x4 or 4x2. You are overthinking this. A 3.5/5 drop will drop the vehicle it was designed to fit 3.5/5 inches. It would be kinda dumb to sell a kit advertised as a 3.5/5 inch drop if it really lowered a truck 5/7 inches.
Or are you wanting to compare the height of a lowered 4x4 to a stock 4x2?

From what I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong) is that the 4x4's and 4x2's all use the same springs (not getting into the payload options). The differences in hight come from rear lift blocks and the front shocks. So in theory, if you buy 2wd front shocks and remove the rear block, you will be at 2wd height

What Im trying to do is figure out what the drop will look like. I have seen pictures of 2WD's w/ 23's and 3.5/5 drops, and i love that look... I want to know if my 4WD with the same drop and rims will look the same. But what i'm understanding is that it "will" lower it 3.5/5 as advertised but it wont look like the pictures I've seen. It will in fact still be 2" higher than in the pictures? So are you saying that "If" it was possible i would need 5.5"/7" drop to look like the 2WD's?

If anyone has pics of a 4WD dropped 3.5/5 with 23's it would be great!

wandell is correct, i thought we went over this already in your other thread.

4x4 with an advertised 3/5 drop will be like ordering a 1/3 drop for a 2wd

I dont think you can do a 5/7 with the CV axles in the front, you *might* be able to do a 4/6 which would look like a 2wd 2/4

You are correct... But why would anyone want to lower a 4x4????? It kind of defeats the purpose of that type of truck...

Nah, in the other thread we went over what drop and different methods to drop it.

I didnt know it would be such a tiny difference, that sucks ... Ive searched a lot and havent found anything more than a 3.5 for the front, i know i can get lower in the back.

People's needs are different. Obviously if someone lowers a 4x4 they don't go offroading.
