2000 out the door??

Sounds a little high to me for the Pro COmp. I've heard of members buying them for $1200 off Ebay (for 04-08 F-150 lifts) and around $500 for installation seems to be average. So $2000 isn't a great deal, but not a ripoff either. Doestch has a good reputation but I don't know what they sell for.

I don't think that's a great price for what you are getting.
There are some '04-'08 F150 6" kits out there that give you:
-replacement front struts rather than a spacer. This is important because it keeps your front shocks matched with the rears. Also, the larger heavier wheel was not taken into consideration when Ford chose the front strut valving. The replacement strut will be valved for the weight of the larger tire.
-Front brake lines. There is another thread going right now about someone trying to install a 6" kit and relocate the line and it is not going well. Others in that thread have complained about the brake lines on their kits. A good kit will come with brake lines if they are needed, and in the case of the '04-'08 F150 they are.
-Driveshaft. Every set of directions that I've read for these kits says something about "driveshaft modifications may be nessary". That does not pass the B.S. test. They are if you use 4WD frequently. Even if you don't, you may be replacing stuff like U joints prematurely. There are kits out there that include a replacment drive line. These kits are not much more expensive than the ProComp. Look around and perhaps talk to some other shops.
