Lifted guys and parking garages

Has anyone here ever hit there roof in a parking garage but cleared the clearance bar? If so would the owners of the garage have to pay the damage? Reason that I am wondering is because my truck at the top of the cab is 6'11.5" tall and the clearance on all the garages around campus is 7'2". I pulled under one of the bars and just barley clear them so i dont want to be going though the garage and find my roof meeting concrete, right now I just stay away from them but it would be nice to park close every once in a while

you shoulda lowered it then...

lol all jokes aside as long as the parking garage put a warning on height requirements then they should have no fault. Some meat head at my work ripped the top off the refrigeration truck like a tuna can trying to go in our underground parking....guess who was at fault....yup the meat head.

i really dont think that you will hit, and if you do i suppose it would be their fault. i know i can't fit in them anymore but when i had just the 6in. and 35's i went through one and my antenna hit every concrete beam that went across the ceiling. it really worried me at some spots.

I'm not sure how tall the ones are at my school, but I'm sure most are about the same height. I know I don't have much room to spare on the clearance pole but I clear it, and even at the lowest spots in the garage I'm fine.

As a quick guide on my old truck I trimmed about 3" off of my antenna to where it stuck 1 - 1 1/2" above the cab top. That way I could tell when it was getting close and see out the windshield if it was going to clear or not.

I have heard that most clearance guide bars are set just a little low, to provide a little extra clearance. However you have to be careful because sometimes there are lower areas along the edges.

That has to be a scary though going underground in a lifted truck. I've been in some where a regular 4x4 antenna hit every cement beam. A group of my relatives piled into a new conversion van to visit another relative. When they got there, they carefully checked the height before entering the underground parking. The van cleared, but not by much. Later the van owner left by himself, but this time with out the weight of the others in the van he scraped the roof on the way out. That was their first trip in the new conversion van.

thats a pretty good idea i may do something like that right now im hitting a ton of the antenna on just the clearance bar. I know ill just have to drive slow where the bumps and turns are

I tend to use my stock antenna as a clearance guage, since its about 2" taller than the cab of the truck. It's pushing it for me to fit under anything that is 9'. Parking garages are out of the question for me

I thought most of the times those bars are about a foot lower than the ceiling? In which case just avoid parking under the up ramps.. I have been in a few (not in my truck of course) that it seemed to get lower every floor you went up, but it usually said so and had another bar to prevent you from going up if the car/truck was too tall.

I agree with fx4life said the clearance bar is usually a little bit lower, the other week I was at truckfest and this girl was driving a stock f250, when she went to pull in, the clearance bar was scrapping on the top of her truck, but she made it in, so I am guessing she did not rub the concrete the whole way up the garage.
