2.5in or 3in Leveling Kit

Hey whats up everyone, new to this fourm and new to ford trucks in general, Ive owned alot of trucks but love my Ford, Ive got an 05 F150.

Anyways, I know I shold search this, but im wanting to get the leveling kit (just like everyone else), and I see that some perfer 2.5, and some perfer 3, whats the difference? And which will give me less problems. I plan on running 35's with either 17's or 18's. And will the 3 make the front end stick up??

Thanks guys!

Tsala.

Very few people will recommend a 3 inch leveling kit. Most everyone agrees that 2.5 inches is the limit. The 3 inch kits leave the ball joints at too severe of an angle to last. To fit a 35x12.50 tire with a leveling kit (on a 4x4) you will need to use the OEM wheels or an aftermarket wheel that is 8 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing.

yea go with the 2.5" at most thats what Im running and then also an addleaf in the back or airbags. Then find a wheel with the right backspacing and offset to run 35's you have to find something close to factory specs I run 17x8's with +18 offset and dont rub at all after only minor trimming.

3" leveling kits will really alter the CV angle causing severe wear... I have a 2" kit and am running 34/11.50 R17s without rubbing or trimming...

Most kits are almost identical but some are priced 3 or 4 times the cost of others. Most people here have found the Autospring kits to be high quality kits at a low price.

Thumbs up

my friend put this one on his truck a few months ago with no problems (2008 f150)

I just ordered mine last week and will be installing it when it comes in. They are inexpensive but made very well.

I will post a pic of his truck in my gallery.

Im not sure if can run the m/t's because of them being real side biters, they may rub. If you choose from certain aftermarket wheels you would be able to get them to work without rubbing.

Depending on your budget, get you a set of Bilsteins adjustable shocks. If your in the need of new shocks too, this will kill 2 birds with one stone. The shocks have a 1in setting and a 2 in..... I would highly recommend them!!

If i had to do it again I would go with the 2" kit. Both my 09 and my dads 05 sit nose high with the 2.5". His sits about 1" high, mine just under 2" high.
