I just had my steering rack replaced a month ago in my 2004 F150 non-Heritage because somehow the boot got ripped, or cracked on its own, and it caused the drivers side shaft to rust and break down the seal on that side. Everything was perfect afterwards, until the last week or so the steering is fighting back when turning. Apparently the diverter inside the steering box is not working properly anymore. Now, the garage tells me that the dealer will warranty the rack and replace it, which is cool, but that the part is backordered because of a core shortage? Can any other parts guys out there back this claim up?
