9.75 diff questions

Guys I am going to help a buddy change his rear end fluid. couple questions:

Do you apply RTV to the diff itself or the diff cover?
What is the torque specs on the diff cover bolts?
How much and what type of fluid will it hold?

Isn't the friction modifier only needed if you have the LS?

I always RTV the cover, but that's up to you. 80 ft/lbs sounds like a lot for diff cover bolts, I was thinking it was somewhere around 30. You need 3 qts 75w140 and 1 4oz bottle of friction modifier if it's a limited slip.

Make darn sure there is no oil draining out on the sealing surface. If there is any oil there you will have a leak afterwards. Someone posted that Autozone sells a gasket. If so, I recommend using a gasket.
