Thumbs up Lifting...

Hey guys just wondering what you think or what youve heard about pro comp and rough country lifts. I would like to go with fabtech but i dont know if i will have the cash. I have heard that pro comp sometimes makes the back of the truck sag... i know this is easily fixed but i was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions. I will be running 35s with 20s.

I also have thought about coilovers (even tho they are expensive) just to add a bit more height. You all seem to love them and it would be nice to make the lift 7-8 inches instead of 6. Would this still look fine with 35s? im worried about 37s cause of the gearing issue...

Thanks! let me know what you all would suggest in me getting/doing.

Alright. Well pro comp sounds good to me. Should I just plan on installing the aal? Do they always seem to sag in the back?

Would you guys suggest in investing in adjustable coilovers as well to go with this kit? If I did that I'd raise it maybe 1 more inch...

Ya, I would do the Pro Comp, and if you can afford it, do the Dirt Logic Coilovers... But honestly, I would personally leave it at 6", just level the back with an aal. But, if you're looking at the coilovers, you could be looking at a basic Fabtech for about the same price if you really want Fabtech, which I hear is a really nice lift - I think 2nd best. As I recall, most agreed RCD was #1 but VERY expensive.... Goodluck with your project!

search for a thread of mine, fabtech had the coilovers for cheap, 600 bucks or something like that, they were cosmetically blemished. if money is an issue and you want 8 inches, just go with bilsteins, alot of guys are running it, you will be fine.

if you got 3.73's, 37's are doable, but it you tow stick to 35's or better yet, get geared. and when you do, go for 4.88's over 4.56's will be a tad better with 37's when you get them, cuz i know you will

I'm running the procomp with a 2.5 leveling kit and AAL. I don't have any complaints. I'm also still running the factory 3.73's. The truck still has power, but I wouldn't try towing a heavy load with it. I'm planning on changing my gears this summer and adding a programmer.

O wow... Is running the spacer ok with the pro comp? What height of aaL did you need? haha I might consider 37's now... I do tow some so that could be a problem. :S

one thing to keep in mind is that the pro comp lift really won't increase your front track width much, unlike a fabtech. consequently, you probably will not be able to run much wider than a 12.50-13.00 in tire.

I have the stage 1 procomp lift on my truck. I like it, but am thinking of coilovers as well, though I do not plan on lifting it more.

You can get an AAL if you desire, but I think that alot of people do not install the whole kit for the rear from procomp. It comes with a block you stack and shims. When you leave the shims out you get that squatted look.

You can also just get a real 3 or 4 in block.

Here are some pictures of my truck. Keep in mind the driveway shot is sloped, and I think I need to replace my rear shocks as I can see oil on the shafts so it may be sitting a little lower due to that.

By the time you buy the extra block, shims or AAL, you are already nearing Fabtech stage 1 prices. Just get the Fabtech. It sits perfectly level, doesnt stack any blocks or shims, and gives you brand new extended shocks up front instead of a big fugly spacer (and these shocks are a VERY smooth ride both on and off the pavement).

From everything I've heard, for what you are trying to do, man, I would go with the Fabtech. I mean, Pro Comp is really good, but as you can tell, if you want to sit level you need those shims, or to do an aal. And if you want the performance of the coilovers you're already getting into the price range of the Fabtech. My suggestion is the Fabtech for what you are looking for

My front axles are at an angle, but not as bad as some I have seen. A 2" spacer up front or the bilsteins would be better then the 2.5" spacer. I have a 2" AAL and my back still sits 1 3/4" lower then my front. A 2" AAL should put your back where you want it. I'm pretty sure you can find a procomp on ebay for pretty cheap, around $1500 shipped. A 2" AAL shouldn't cost you more then $100. Wether you go with the Procomp or Fabtech either way you shouldn't have any issues with your lift.
