stupid shock question. boot up or down?

2008 scab 6" fabtech. i have the basic fabtech shocks on and mounted with rod pointed down like i always have. my wife went to get it aligned yesterday and they said my shocks are on upside down? does it matter. which is the correct way to mount basic shocks. i know with high end shocks its always rod down. thanks in advance.

Dont matter as far as I know. Had the rod down on my lifted 04 heritage with no issues, just preference.

No difference at all, just whatever you want the look.

I believe the shocks have to be mounted with the boot on top and the body down. I know with monotube shocks it doesn't matter which direction you mount them.

My Bilstein instructions said either way is fine, but looks to me that the boot would collect dirt and water if it is upside down.

The Bilstiens are a monotube design like I was referring to.

They can be run either way, except the front can only be mounted body down. To me it would look weird with the body down in front and body up in the rear, so I have always mounted them body down.
Only if they have a reservoir would you have to mount them body up.

PS - on 97-03 they only way to mount front and rears was body down.
