The only other thing I would add is that if you unbolt all four ubolts (two on each side), you should leave at least ONE shock bolted up while your floor jack is holding up the axle at the differential. This will prevent the whole rear end from rotating FORWARD and falling off the floor jack! For those of you adding 5"+ blocks or stacking blocks, you know what I am talking about. If you still need more room for the axle to articulate and you must unbolt the remaining shock, I suggest having a 2nd floor jack placed at the u-joint (not the drive shaft) to again, protect against the axle rotating forward. Having an extra set of hands would be helpful too! Finally, be sure your hoses and lines are not stretched when dropping the axle.

This is very simple to do. I put in 3inch Readylift blocks (Swapping out the stock 2inch FX4 blocks). Did one side at a time so I didnt have to worry about the axle moving. No issue with the pegs falling right into place. With the 2.5as up front and the 3in blocks rear...truck now sits 1/2 rake to the front. SWEET.

does anyone have pics of a truck with a 2.5" levelking kit up front and a 3" block?

i measured mine today and its 39.5" in the back and 39" in the front? lol and i have a 2.5" leveling kit so i guess a rear block would be too much for me, my truck only had 40k kms on it so i guess the leaf packs arent saged down much yet

With the 2.5as and the swap of stock FX4 2inch block to a 3inch block...think I was 40" front and 40.5" rear. I just remember one was 40" and the front is 1/2" lower.

yea i have stock 245/70/17's too so when i get my new tires it should be nice

how did you do the 3" up front? i thought more than 2.5 up front put the suspension at all sorts of bad angles.

I don't have any problems. The ReadyLift 3" front kit actually only measures just over 2.75". I had heard this too, and did a little research. After talking to a few guys who had 50K+ miles on them with no problems, I figured I was good.

They are temporary until I can afford a full lift kit. In the meantime I will clear 35" tires.

i have the 3" on mine. no problems at all. about 1000 miles with it on there. soon im getting 3 inch blocks and nitto mudgrappler 35's.

Using the stock rear shocks

I have a 2005 FX4. Looking at 3" front strut spacers to raise the front and 3" rear blocks to lift the rear. Do you have to replace the rear shocks or can you use the stock shocks withthe new rear 3" blocks.

i think the write up is pretty dang good and Janos is right, it doesn't take long at all. i did mine by myself in well under an hour, and i took off each wheel, one at a time. i put jack stands under the spring and then a floor jack under the diff. and lowered the axle until i could fit the block. i don't know what pics would really help other than before and after. strong work!

The only issue I encountered was getting the pins to pop into place on one side. I ended up tightening everything up as best I could and drove with my breaker bar & 21mm socket until I heard it pop. Then pulled over to re-tighten the nuts. 2 people would probably make this much less of an issue.

i no im a couple years late but awesome right up man...couldnt find anything like this on the other ford site...looks easy enough & ill be tackling this job for sure!
