Replacing pitman arm.

hey, have a 2000 f150 and its time to replace the pitman arm, there is lots of play in it i dont think it will last much longer, is there any tricks on doing this? llooks like a pain.

There is nothing real special to removing the pitman arm. You can get a pitman arm removal tool from your locak parts store. Either borrow or buy.
1. Disconnect the linkage from the end of the pitman arm.
2. Remove the large nut from the spindle for the pitman arm.
3. Use tool to remove pitman arm.
4. Installation is reverse.

yeah but it looks like on my f150 i have to unbolt the box and turn it cuz there is a crossmember right under the nut that holds the pitman arm to the box, my friends 2003 7700 dont have this crossmember but he also dont have any skidplates that are bolted to this crossmember.
