How it works is you come to Shockwarehouse.com and look up your vehicle. Look for the promotional banners indicating the shocks that are covered by this offer. Buy 4 of those shocks and get one of the lesser value shocks FREE !

Bluejay,

Unfortunately yes you are correct. This promotion is available for most but not all. The 4x4 version of your vehicle IS included, but the rear Bilstein's for the 4x2 are not.

You can still qualify for the 5% and free shipping however.

Question Questions..

What would new shocks do for my ride? I have an '06 FX4 with a 2" spacer. 66k miles.

Would this improve my ride at all? What would I want Bilstein 5100's?

River,

Just changing the shocks/struts is not likely going to change what the vehicle manufacturer built into a vehicle. How a vehicle rides is something that cannot be plotted or graphed scientifically, because it is all a matter of opinion. There is no 'measurement' for 'ride'. A car/truck manufacturer spends millions developing a vehicle, if they cannot correct the "ride" for you, chances are you cannot by only spending a few hundred dollars on the suspension.

We do not recommend buying shocks or struts specifically for trying to change the "ride" of a vehicle, that is not what shocks or struts do. Their function is to hold the tires in contact with the road and dampen suspension vibration.

The shocks and struts we carry in most cases are considered an upgrade by the U.S Government, over the stock, O.E. suspension units. They can be changed at anytime, even right after you purchase a new vehicle. If the vehicle you drive is not up to your expectations, or uncontrollable, you may want to consider better parts for your suspension to improve it's handling, control and safety. Also, you may have special needs for your vehicle that may not have been incorporated into it's design, such as some off-road driving, or towing. None of the units we have would be valved as 'soft' as the units your vehicle came with.

Also, despite what some people say, there is no time limit, by years or miles, on when you have to change a unit. Though we do recommend, as part of normal maintenance, to routinely give your suspension a visual inspection to make sure it is in good, safe, working order.

Do you notice abnormal tire wear? How does the truck handle? What do you use the truck for? Do you tow anything with the truck?

These questions would certainly help us determine what to recommend if you feel you need new shocks.

You have any insight on the bilstein 4 series running short for non-lifted 97-03 F150s? I've read it on a couple different forums. Of course I already placed my order through you guys before I found this info.
Do you see a lot of returns for this shock? Heard anything from bilstein?

I'm looking to pick up some Bilstein 5100s sometime in the very near future for my truck (01 Screw, 4x4, 6" suspension). I may be wrong, but are the 5100 shocks not a part of the 'Buy 3, get 1 free' deal?

edit: and I'm only able to find the front shocks for my truck, not the rears. Can you give me the part numbers I'd need for the front/rear?

You will need to measure so we can determine your expandable and collapsible lengths needed (your lift kit manufacturer should also be able to provide this).

You will not be able to put on 5100s though, you will need 5150s.

Let me know once you have measured and we order those.

Again, I have not heard this at all and we've been selling these for quite sometime.

I hope this is not the case, as I have just ordered a set of 5100 series for my 6" Lifted F-150 from the Canadian distributor of Bilstein, and he tells me I need these part numbers:
BE5-6526-H0 2 Each BILSTEIN 5100 FORD F150 6" LIFT FR
BE5-6093-H0 2 Each BILSTEIN 5100 FORD F150 REAR

They are on order, but not yet shipped. So,who is wrong?I need to know before my supplier ships to me, wasting time and money.

Also here are the collapsed and extended lengths for the Fabtech shocks for a 6" lift 97-03 F-150 4x4,according to Fabtech Tech support:
Front 21.1 to 15.6
Rear 29.1 to 16.8

Sledman,

No, they are the correct shocks for a 6" lift so you are fine there. But there isn't a - H0 in those parts, there's a -H5 though (here) Front - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=15068 and Rear - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=14996. So I'm not sure why they have -H0 listed...

My reply above was regarding a Fabtech 6" + P.A. 3" lift.

And for some reason or another Bilstein shows the rears are eligible for the buy 3 get 1 free but not the fronts in that part number.

I'm curious on what you are paying for those shocks out the door (including shipping)?

We offer free shipping + 5% discount.

Hope that helps! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
