So does anyone crank the torsion bars and not add a block in the back or should you do both? I'm about to put some 285/75/16's on my truck and am just thinking of cranking the bars to level it. How much stiffer does the ride get? Is it pretty rough?

Most people don't ad at taller lift block or AAL. As for the ride, cranking the torsion bars makes the initial portion of the suspension's travel slightly stiffer. Some love this, some hate it.

I cranked t-bars all the way and added an AAL which for the AAL and longer U-bolts was $100.00. It really helped fit the 305/70/17 Buckshots. Good Luck

I need new rear shocks too. How much longer of a rear shock did you buy compared to stock, and where did you buy those?

2003 torsion bar crank

Hey everybody, I am new to having a ford that is newer that the 90s. I have a 2003 f150 crew 4x4. I want to crank the torsion bars, but have heard an alignment needs to be done afterwards. Does the alignment include camber and castor or just the toe need to be reset. Can someone let me know exactly what needs to be done after the torsion crank and what size tires I can expect to be able to put on the truck??? Any help would be appriciated.

Do 2wd trucks have torsion bars? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Most of the time it just throws the toe out of adjustment. You will be able to fit 33x12.50's on a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing by trimming a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance.
2008xl, only the 97-03 4x4's have torsion bars. All of the 04-09's have coilover shocks.

offroaded my torsion bar adjustment keys all the way cranked for about a year and offroaded it weekly. atleast once a week.

never blew a CV, ball joints went out at alittle over 100k miles, which really is when they need to be replaced anyway.

now my new setup doesnt have CV's, or ball joints
