3" level kit question
3" level kit question
Will someone tell me if this is all I need for my truck?? Before I purchase it. I have a 05 F150 4x4 supercrew. and another question how hard are they to install? Can i do it by myself??

I have a 3" spacer from fatbob's garage. I had mine installed by a 4x4 shop here in Raleigh. You will need to get it aligned though. That would be about 60 bucks depending on where you go. P.S. your front end will probably sit higher than the back, like mine (but you can fix that with an add-a-leaf or 3" rear block - which I don't have yet):

hey i have the 3" from fat bob. can't say ive had any problems. And
if you'll take a measure tape to the spacer before you but it on(at least mine was) actually around 2 3/4". The truck sits a little higher in the front, but I like it that way.

Well I have a 05 King ranch and it slants down bad in the front almost looks like a 2wd but I believe the 3 will get it about level if it doesn't ill just add a leaf. What do yall recomend BFGoodrich Mud terrains KM2 35/12.50/18 or 33/12.50/18?? How much difference will this make in gas milage, how high my truck sets up, ect?? And btw my friend has a 3'' level kit on his truck and has no probs out of it
Hurray for 3" level kit owners! I've finally found other people who have 'em! Sorry, I'm very ecstatic about this - I thought I was the only one with a 3" from fat bob's...
To the OP, I personally would do the 35x12.50R18's if I had the stock 18" rims. The gas mileage drop shouldn't be much, most people seem to report about 1 - 2.5mpg drop with 35x1250's on stockers...
But, I have the stock 20's - it just came that way from the dealer, I would never just buy 20's for my truck, though there's nothing wrong with them, just IMHO smaller rims, like 17 or 18's are better for offroad usage (which is what I like to do
), since you get more "padding" in between you and the road.... Im probably gonna be buying a set of 285/65/R20's, which is about 34.5"X11.5".

Does anyone know how much AALs affect the ride? I know that most say it will make the ride rougher, but how much rougher? Like the 97-03's? which IMO were some of the best handling/riding trucks (the newer ones seem to be squishy with the "off-road tuned" shocks on (at least mine) the FX4. I know there is at least one on here running both 1.5AALs plus bilsteins. I would think it would ride more like a 2 horse wagon from I've heard... But surely not, since I doubt anyone would really want to keep that on their truck if it ran that bad... I dunno, Im just curious...

"ride" is a highly subjective term. personally, i don't feel that my 03, lifted w/ a 6'' fabtech up front, and a 6'' atlas leaf spring pack in the back rides rough at all. others though, feel like its a tank going over bumps.
if you are worried about ride stiffening, go w/ a bigger block. be aware though, that a block will not increase your payload will, unlike an AAL.

not trying to bust your *****, but only a full suspension lift that consists of bolting on a subframe, and dropping down the front differential is a "true lift."
the last final bit of ground clearance comes from the tires, which keep the axles off the ground.
