Project 1ton150 Here We Go
the reason for a cut and turn is to help with driveshaft angles. some people do it on the fj40's w/ spring overs and some dont. it might not be needed for a truck but the 40 driveshafts are so short alot of people do it to help out w/ binding and what not. i know nothing about doing a SAS on a truck i was just curious
ok i see what you are saying... and we probably wont be doing that.
If needed we will run a CV style front D-shaft to help with angle. And if the angle is THAT bad we might rotate the T-case from its usual sideways mount to straight up and down. This will help with angles as well.
Joe did this on the lasat 150 he SAS'd but doesnt think ill need to unless i got EXTREMELY big.
We also decided to cut ANYTHING out that is not needed, front crossmember will be cut out and redesigned.

Im not going 19" of total suspension lift. Id have to run 54's to make it look right and they still would be kinda small.
I want to run somewhere around 20" of total lift:
3" Body Lift
12" Suspension
5" From tires (40's)
If i cant find some darn 12" springs for a decent price then ill be going with 14" or 16"
when i say EXTREMELY big i mean like 25" + so you can clear 76" Tractor tires....

But i got such a good deal on the 40's i couldnt pass up.
for the pinion angle your most likely going to need a CV style DS, and you probably will need to clock the transfer case along with cutting off the inner C's and moving them for pinion angle. its not that big of a deal to do especially if a shop is doing it, they should have no problems doing it. but if the axles were out of somthing that was pevously big, you should need to because it was probably done already.

I work out in lakeland every so often but the truck isnt with me. However my dad lives in Plant City off of Wilder. So its no biggie for me to jump on Park RD and head further East. Ill let you know when its all done
Hey Trim hope all is going well man i miss these forums soo much but havent had much time to get on at all.Doing alot of missions and such. I want too see this build badly too so if you can do me a favor just keep me updated on whats going on? Could you send me pics and things to my email at mhockey9090@aol.com. I cant wait too see this bc like we explained everything how im doing the same **** with my truck. But now ill prob be running 49s and enough room for 52s later down the road. So hopefully the truck will be going into the shop before i get home from iraq.
Exactly, the axles were previously on a Regular cab Dodge 1500 with about 18" of suspension lift. I know between my truck and his theres differences but the drivetrain is still very close in length.
