Ah yes, the build i've been waiting for. Trim, looks like you've got a great setup ahead of ya. A close friend of mine has 40" ground hawgs, they are tough son-of-a-guns. His truck is street driven all the time but they are so beefy i hardly see any wear on them.

haha stealth i know just how you feel... now if you stack a body lift on top of your 4/6 inch plans, then you might be back in the game.

the 4.2 wont be in there for more than a year after the build. Then the new powerplant is going in. Cummins 4bt (i want to keep it light how often do you see a 4cyl diesel)

EXACTLY thats were the 5.13's will come in.

For the other questions,

why so high? For the future plans for the truck. Eventually it will be a trailered truck, when that time comes it will be on 54's but for now it will look nice on 40's then 44's then hopefully a set of 54's

I would go with a 54" Bogger now but i dont want that on the truck with a 4.2 ill wait till im diesel powered to go that big.

The 5.13's will roast the 40's even with the weak 4.2 i really dont think it will be a problem. Then the 4bt Cummins and 5.13's the truck will be a totally different beast.

The truck is going in the shop tomorrow and probably wont start disassembly till monday. How much i wanted to do this myself i dont have the time or space right now. So the shop will be doing some work when im not there then ill help when i can.

I almost went and picked up the front springs today after work but chickened out. The were 16" springs but set up to be 19" springs and that would be 22" of lift alone and it would be just too much for 40's.

I will also eventually be upgrading to a SCS transferr case and either building my current transmission or try to find something else that wont be to hard to work with the computer.

We are gonna be drawing up somethings tomorrow and ill let everyone know how it goes.

good luck man, be prepared for problems you didnt think you would face and always have some extra cash on you for little things you didnt plan on either.

What are you running for steering? im not too familiar with that body style F-150, do you have a steering box in there or a rack and pinion? if a rack and pinion what steering box are you going to use? for 40's a drag link and tie rod with a steering box should be a fine setup but if you plan on running 44's or 52's you going to probably need hydro steering or a hydro assist.

you going to have to run a high steer set up for over the leafs in front what are the donor vehicles for the D60's?

this should be a bad *** build but if you going to run massive tires like you plan make sure all your stuff is ROCK solid. all your spring mounts and front crossmember.

Good luck man, im subscribed to see this thing. its going to be a bad ***!

The axles are from a Dodge or Ford they are D60's 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. They were last in a Dodge 1500 that had a 4 link suspension on the front and leaf in the rear.

If the front links have the correct geometry then ill be doing that. No reason to cut all the stuff off it i can use it. Plus a 4 link will be much smoother on the road. If we go this route we wont be running heims instead we will run bushings. they take vibrations much better.

The biggest dissapointment in this hole thing is i dont get to do the build myself. I moved into an apartment so no longer have the room to do the build. Ill be helping out when i can but most of the work will be done by Conquer Customs. The system will be bolt on. So if i ever want to go to 2.5t's all i have to do is unbolt and sell the axles leafs and links to someone with an F150.

as far as steering i cant run full hydro and wouldnt want to run hydro on the street. However ive been contemplating hydro assist. I probably will be running crossover steering. All this is ultimately up to the way we lift the front. This will be the first part of the build. Its getting the truck safely back on the road then ill start upgrading other things, like steering, t-case, shocks... and so on.

If i hadnt moved into an apartment id be doing it myself, but thats not an option and i want it done so im just payin them to do it. And it will be about the same price if i was to do it myself.

are you fabbing your steering up or is there a company who makes a crossover steering set up that will work? have the axles been cut and turned?

my crossover should be here tomorrow for the 40.

their are a few people on ih8mud that have the 4 cylinder cummins in their 40's

can't wait to see if finished. its gonna be HUGE. we better have photo's of it in the mud the first week its out of the shop!

S*** man im required to wheel it the first week after....

I will be going to a few Boggs but might not run right away. The truck is probably gonna be getting a new paint job, if that happens then ill be waiting a few weeks for it to cure 100% before getting it dirty.

I havent even picked up the axles yet, why would they need to be turned? Its a driver side drop from a dodge. Or are you referring to something else?

Ill be getting the axles Monday, Tuesday, or wensday. Ill pick up the tires next week or weekend as well.

Ive got another potential motor swap but doubt ill do it a 6.9 IDI... it would be pretty cool, but im wanting something with a turbo. 5.9 12v or 4bt P-Pump.
