Wantin a couple more inches...
So right now I have a 6" suspension and a 3" body. I have 38s and they rub just a little. Im considering adding a few more inches to it, but not sure the best way to go. I don't want to go any bigger than 42s, so no more than 4 inches. I think 12" of lift would be perfect. Looking for any suggestions at all. I would rather not buy a whole new suspension lift, Im just looking for a few little things that will help. Any advice or ideas would be great! Thanks!
I agree with what was stated above.......
If you want the least expensive then go with a spacer and a bigger block or AAL. If you want bad *** and have about $3k then go with some coilovers and a custom leaf pack! If you're gonna throw your truck around and have fun with it then go the expensive route! And throw in some uniballed tubular upper control arms too!
The most you're gonna be able to safely stretch that 6" kit to is 8 1/2" because of the UCA's and sissy ball joints. If you go with a uniball fitted tubular UCA then you might be able to safely get it to 9". That coupled w/ your BL would net you 11 1/2"-12". From what I know, which isn't first had info mind you but rather discussion and research, you should only use 40" tires with that kind'a lift. Bigger tires will limit the useability.
Now that I think about it, you'd probably be able to get a Rize 8" lift, some 5100's and something for the rear for a little more or about the same amount you would pay for the coilovers, longer rear shocks, a custom leaf pack and the tubular UCA's. That route would get you about 10" of suspension and 13" of total lift. With 13" I think you would be able to squeeze 42's in. There's a guy in the 9"+ club that has 13" -13 1/2" of lift on a 2wd regular cab w/ 42's. Don't remember what his name is though.

you can safely add up to another 2.5'' to your 6'' fabtech suspension w/ a leveling kit. if that isn't enough for your liking, you will need to either switch to an 8'' or 12'' Rize, or perform a SAS to achieve the stance you desire. swapping to an 8'' rize kit and a 2.0''-2.5'' spacer should net you the clearance you desire.
If you went the 8" Rize route you'd be able to sell your current lift too to offset the cost. Think that's your best bet to be honest. Basic 8" Rize, 2" spacer and Deaver or Skyjacker 4" leaf pack w/ the Rize rear block. That'll give you 13" of total lift and run you about $3500+ install. You could sell you current lift for maybe a grand to put you at a total of about $3k spent.
If you went the coilover and AAl route you'd only get about 11" of total lift for about $1k-$2k depending on what coilovers you got. From what I hear Fabtech(I think) has a steal of a deal on their blemished coilovers for like $600/pair. On the other side of the spectrum is the Kings for about $1500/pair.
A cheap way to get 11 1/2"-12" total lift would be a 2 1/2" or 3" spacer, tubular UCA's and an AAL/bigger block. That would run you about $1K including install I would guess.
So there you are.......
expensive, mid-level and cheap......
