I'm currently looking to buy a 6" suspension lift for my truck. The fabtech package I'm looking at includes shocks but is a little pricey ( > $2000). My question is what are the pros and cons of shocks at this height? Just wanting to know if the extra money is worth it.

 

you will need new shocks regardless . with a 6'' lift your stock shocks will be to short .

i have the 6'' fabtech basic lift (cheapest ) and it rides good .fyi.

 

I believe the 6" Procomp stage 1 kit uses the stock front shocks. They just use a coil spacer on top of the strut to fill in the gap from the extra height. I believe the 8" Rize kit has a spacer that goes on the bottom of the stock front shock as well.

keep in mind that if you do go w/ the basic package and the big spacers, i wouldn't stack a leveling kit spacer on top of the other spacers for more height. if you are even thinking about adding a leveling kit for some more clearance, definitely go w/ the longer shocks.

 

would it be worth it to just get a cheaper kit (pro Comp, rough country) and just get other shocks like Bilsteins or just go with the fabtech?

yeah i have been looking around for a while now and cant really decide what i wanna do. hopefully we can get some good ideas.

your going to need shocks regaurdless. driving without shocks is such a pain if any of you have ever done it before.

buy the fabtech lift. get it with coilovers. end of story.
