Bds Body lift + 6 ?

i plan on putting pro-comp stage 1 on combined with my body lift in the summer ,

i was browsing through BDS's install instructions for my body lift, and it said "will not work with 6 inch suspension lift " .

i chatted with a bds rep , and he said "it will bind the steering if combined with a suspension lift"

i then asked , what is the difference between BDS BL v P/a BL , he said "not much. there may be some small changes but non that are huge differences".

im convinced its just a safety pre-caution , b/c P/A's instruction say do not combine suspension and BL, and many members are running this .

im gunna give them a call , and talk with another tech, to get a more definite response, but what are ya'll's opinions ,

heres the majority of our conversation : im ray btw

ray: what about 4.5 inch lift combined with your 3inch body lift ?
Shawn: I am told that they don't work together at all.
ray: b/c of the steering ?
Shawn: Yes apparently they don't like any changes in the geometry.
ray: are you familiar with the body lift company called performance accessories ?
Shawn: Oh yes
ray: they too claim not to combine suspension and body lift s but i ve seen it done
Shawn: I've used one before on a personal truck
Shawn: Really?
ray: yeah thats what their install instructions say , thats why im thinking its just a saftey precaution
Shawn: I'm told that it just flat out doesn't work. But It might be just because of the safety issue.
ray: my question , what if i find a lift that retains the factory steering locations and what not ?
Shawn: Well we haven't tried it so I'm not sure.
ray: how is your kit different from performance accessories ?
Shawn: well there is only one way to body lift that truck but we use a spacer in the steering shaft under the dash.
ray: so theres no difference your saying ?
Shawn: not much. there may be some small changes but non that are huge differences.
ray: so being that i ve seen P/A's body lifts combined with suspension lifts, and they say not too, im assuming BDS body lift will , work, unless there are major differences between the kits, which there is not , correct ? its just BDS's safety precaution to cover themselves ?
Shawn: well its like you said that people do it but it doesn't make it the smartest thing to do.
ray: i realize that, i just want clarification , that it can be done , and your warning are just safety pre-cautions
Shawn: personally I'm not a tech and not really sure if there really is a serious issue with it so I just have to go with what I am told and that it won't work at all.

the only thing i can think of is because of the rack location, does the rack get lowered 6 inches with the pro comp or not? maybe with the body lift it will bind somehow? on the other hand, there are several guys on here running both, maybe they tell you no because of liability issues. you constantly see warnings telling you not use a body lift with suspension lift and vice veras.

I have no knowledge what so ever on this matter but from reading your conversation with the guy it sure seems like the 2 bl kits are pretty much identical and that it should work considerine the PA kit works. I'd be interested to hear what a tech has to say. They should just put a friggin warning on it and say they don't suggest combining the 2 if in fact it does work instead of saying it doeasn't.

i have to look into if the pro-comp , either way , i think fabtech retains the factory location for the steering, might need to upgrade .
