Custom home made traction bars

I'm looking into making a set of traction bars. I have been looking around to determine the best materials for street manners and strip ability.

While looking around the Net, I came across this webpage which details how to build a set of bars: http://www.hotrodsandhemis.com/Traction.html

Take a look at the page and tell me what you think. Would this work on our trucks?

My application is a 2006 Roush Stage 3 - meaning a complete Roush suspension in the front and rear. I am NOT running OEM springs, I have Roush springs which dropped the rear of the the truck.

I won't be towing very often and rarely go off road so I don't think suspension travel would be too much of an issue with a set of ladder bars but...

If anyone has built their own set (built54), share your materials list and what changes if any you would make to your current setup.

I personally don't like anti wrap bars that are positioned under the axle between it and the ground. It just lowers you clearance and increases the chances of you nailing it when you are off road (you only said rarely offroad, not never). When my explorer was spring under I would catch the ubolt plate/shock mount all the time. They're mangled now!

I'm most likely going to build something like this for the sploder which is now spring over if I have wrap problems. I haven't ran one on anything else so that'll be my first.

Something like this won't hurt your clearance.

I'm looking into the same thing.....can't get any traction and the wheel hop sucks.
