Coilover question

I'm thinking about getting some Kings, Radflos, Fabtech or Sway-a-way 2.5" coilovers but I have one question. What size travel should I get? I am already lifted 6" but I want to get it up to about 8" so I can run 37s. What size would I get that would require me to crank them 2 inches to get the 8 inches and what size would I get that would enable me to simply use the shock itself for the 8 inches without having to crank.

Thanks to everyone who takes a look.

Will

Im not sure anyone will do that. What they would do if they did was put a longer machined end on the coilover. That is how king does it cause my kings are the "basic 2.5 res coilovers for the f150" that you can buy to level your truck, for a 6" life, and for the rize 8" lift and with each one all they do is put a different end on it. You should be fine with anyones coilovers for a 6" lift cranked. Also the coilovers king makes for the rize 8" kit are massive and i highly doubt that would work for your idea since rize really is bigger than an 8".

Interesting, I talked to two shops in the area and one of them gave me this idea and the other one said it wouldn't work because the bigger, 8" shocks wouldn't fit. I would go with coilovers cranked 2" but I am worried that I will have rubbing when I run 37x13.5s. I read another thread about coilovers cranked and those who had it reported rubbing and necessary trimming.

I think the rubbing and trimming is just going to be a fact of life if your bumping a 6" to 8". I even get some rubbing with my 8" bumped to 10". Id almost go so far as to say everyone has some sort of rubbing wheather they know it or not and may have had to do some trimming if they ahve bumped any lift up 2"+. I dont think its much to worry about unless your getting in a bind with the rubbing. I just try not to go to full lock if i odnt have to.

you'll be fine running that size tire with the coilovers cranked. if you pull into a driveway with a nice curb in front of it with the wheels cranked and ou get a small rub its not going to harm anything.

a little rubbing never hurts anyone.

seriously though, there is nothing wrong w/ a little trimming, if it is necessary.

also, you're gonna feel it when the tires rub, its not like you won't know, and rip the sidewall out of them.

Yeah, you guys are right. I honestly just got pretty freaked out when I read the thread on 6" lifts with coilovers cranked and dudes were talking about some major trimming they were having to do to avoid rubbing. It just sounded like something that I would like to avoid if possible. Sounds like after this thread the trimming isn't as severe as I had initially thought it to be. Thanks guys. Sweet trucks btw!
