Just thought I'd post a problem and solution with the steering in my 04. About every quarter turn, the steering would bind. I was hoping it was just a bad belt or ps fluid. Turned out the be a bad steering shaft. The bottom universal joint was badly corroded. Mechanic said it was not a common problem, but not unusual either.

 

My 06 came from up north and the steering shaft is pretty corroded compared to everything else around it, so I guess I'm not that surprised. But now I know where to look first when mine does it
