Monroe Gas Magnum Shocks

Hey yall......

It is time for new shocks front & Rear (2001 Screw 5.4). A friend told me to go with Monroe Gas Magnum 34655(front) 34656(Rear)

I am clueless when it comes to suspension, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these shocks? I have been told Bilstein & Tokico are really good, but I know they are on the expensive side. I am looking to pay between 30 to 45 USD. Any information will greatly appreciated!

BTW, I am looking for a very stiff ride! Or as stiff as possiable with in reason.... I drive mostly on paved roads.

Thanks in advance!

i went with the monroe load adjustable rear shocks. they have the spring on the outside of the shock. very stiff and seemed to raise the back of my truck up too.

i am putting the gas magnums on the front.

same truck as you.

i just put on the front gas magnums and they were a great match to the rear monroe load adjusting shocks (sensatrac). they are great and it rides perfect now. so, i could only image that if you put the gas magnums on the rear that they would be just as good.

Hey bimmeranger,

thanks for the info! I think I like the sound of your set up!
I checked on the price of the rears and they were 108.00! If I shop around I may find them a little cheaper...LOL
It is more than I wanted to pay, but I think I am going to go with them!

BTW, how much did it raise your rearend?

Thanks!

i would say about 1 inch in the rear. from about 35" to about 36" i didn't measure before, so i measure a bunch of the f150s in the parking lot at work and they were all at about 35" rear, so i would say about 1"

Good to know. I have the Sensatrac load adjusting shocks for the rear sitting on my bench waiting to be installed but I went with the Monroe Reflex Monotubes for the front.

I put the Monotubes all the way around on the girlfriends Blazer and loved the ride. Hopefully they will work just as well on the front of my Truck.
