shocks question
shocks question
hey I started the forum about 2 weeks ago about the factory lift question. I haven't been able to take the pictures of my lift to figure out exactly what I got but I'm almost positive it is a 6" lift. If I'm wantin to get closer to an 8" lift would the rancho quick lift be a good idea?
It all depends on which lift kit you have. If you have one of the kits, like the Pro Comp, that uses a 6 inch spacer and the oem coilover shocks, the Rancho or Bilstien shocks would be your best bet to get two more inches of lift.
Carefully look over your lift and the front and rear shocks and see if you can find a name brand written on them. At the very least, the rear shocks will have a brand name. Also, notice what color the shocks are (most aftermarket shocks will be white).
Maybe you could look at pics of some other members lifts and identify it.

alright so i went under my truck to see if i could find out the brand and what i saw on the rear shock was "Ford Motor". I'm guessin this means that the lift kit came from ford motors and the truck really has a factory lift. Whats my best way to go with shocks for this ?
Right. SOme pics would really help. Members here own about evey lift available for your truck. Get some pics of the front subframe, the front coilover shocks and the area of the rear shock where they and the leafsprings mount to the axle.
I have a 98 f150 4x4 with 223,000 miles i am pretty sure i am in need of new shock's it all stock except for the 315 75 16 bfg km2's im getting next week im either going to crank the bars or install the torsion keys what would be my best bet on shocks?

Forget about aftermarket torsion bar keys. Just crank up you torsion bars with the oem adjustment keys. As for shocks, you will need an oem length shock. Bilsteins would be my first choice, but just about anything will be an upgrade from your oem shocks.
are you completely sure on this ? if so? whats the next best thing to do? Should I go with the instant lift shocks or invest in a complete lift kit? I'm not wantin to get ridiculously lifted just enough to notice.
Ya im sure its a body lift, if u look at the picture u took of the back you can see where the body is lifted off the frame and u can see the 3" spacers, if u dont wont to go real big maybe just a 4" rancho suspension lift would do for u
