check your fluid level, sounds like your pump has some air in it

Could be a bad powersteering pump, could be just air in the sytem. Does it make weird noises? Leak? Could be a bad rack too but I'd bet on the pump.
BTW, they are a major PITA to replace.

BTW, if you wanna bleed the system, get a buddy, take off the powersteering reservoir cap, start the truck and swing the steering from left to right all the way. If it's too hard, put the front end up in the air. Add power steering fluid, and continue to turn the wheel until it's not making any noise. Then set it on the ground and continue. It may take awhile. When you stop hearing noise and seein bubbles you can stop, then try again after awhile. Like 3 beers or so...
It may take a few times to completely bleed the system. Just keep at it. I hope this helps, although I suspect, if you have a full reservoir, you may be lookin at a new pump. Good luck!

I just replaced mine due to my 36" iroks and wheelin. I got a used one off ebay for $32. Works great and boy is it hard to park with a bad pump. You have to totally change your approach angle because as you slow it gets harder and harder to turn the wheel and before you know it you can't make it.
