my gas filler tube didnt have to be replaced but thats mine. Every truck could be different. Minimonster's filer tube had to be extended.

My shifter cable didnt need to be extended, minimonsters broke a few months after he installed the BL and didnt extend it.

The filler tube is in the kit, so is the other brackets.

I lifted the cab and bed separately but i did get some scratches. i think it would be possible if you do it carefully.

Honestly what id do is take the bed bolts off and then slide the bed back a few inches. then take all the cab bolts out, lift the cab and then slide the bed back and line everything up.

I was going to chime in earlier but got sidetracked. This thread is kinda funny. There are sooooooooooooo many misconceptions about body lifts

There is no reason to be concerned about a body lift. The PA kit will come with everything you need except gap guards (which I recommend). I have installed 2 of them on a 2000 FX4 and my 03 FX4. If done correctly, there is nothing to worry about.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, 3 weeks after I installed the PA kit on my 2000, I was in a 20 car pile up with my wife and kids in the truck. It was zero visability and I was hit twice. The truck was totaled. If anything, the impact was less then it should have been because the truck was lifted. My 1 year old son didn't even wake up.

You will not have to pull the radiator even though the directions say to. Also, while your back bumper is off, you may want to relocate your trailer light adapter. When you lift the back bumper up, the trailer light adapter will look a little funny because it sits lower. I just drilled a whole in the top of the tow package and remounted it up. Others (like Wandell I think), just flipped it upside down.

I say go for it and make sure you take your time. I get compliments all the time on my truck and I will occasionally get asked "What kind of suspension lift do you have?" I've run both suspension and body lifts and for the money, you cannot go wrong with a body lift. They get a bad wrap because:

1. People use to make them out of hockey pucks and 2x4s.
2. People don't realize that gap guards hide everything
3. People think that you need to relocate and modify many different things to make it work correctly, this just simply isn't true. You will lose towing capability from the back bumper, but your tow package and hitch will still be 100% functional.

When you get to the install process, feel free to PM me or post your questions up on this thread. You'll get a lot of help on here. Good luck!

yes, you can do one side of the cab at a time. i did both sides on mine simultaneously, and we did trimble's one side at a time.

the only **** poor component in the kit is the way they extend one of the fuel lines. they tell you to split it open, put a piece of metal tubing between the two halves, and hose clamp it as one piece. i replaced mine with a whole new gas line. not really a big deal, though. that's the only gripe i have about the kit, a gas line extension. for the other fuel line, they provide you a whole new line. trimble's truck didn't need to extend the fuel lines, however, i couldn't have gone by on mine w/o doing so.

however, everything else in the PA 3'' body lift is well thought out and engineered.

if you use gap guards, raise the exhaust, and possibly the hitch, nobody will even really be able to tell you have a body lift. remember, your body lifted ford still shows less frame rail than a stock chevy.

the only thing that i will have to fabricate then will be a mount for my brush guard. my exhaust is already between the frame rails and dumped under the bed. and i took off my hitch cause it was rusted ridiculously...but i will buy another one eventually...i dont plan on pulling anything with this truck any time soon.

I've been thinking about a brush guard for a while now also. I would like to see some pics on how you mount yours to the front after the body lift if you don't mind, maybe 1 or 2 up close and also include a shot of the brackets you fab. Good luck with everything.

the brush guard we put on my friends truck was really simple. mounted to the bumper just a bolt in 2 spots he had to drill. and then a mount to the frame which was basically a piece of thick metal w/ a 90 degree bend so if you body lifted all you would need to do is get a longer piece of metal to connect the brush guard to the frame.

I'm sure it's not too hard to do, but my concern is how strong it would be. I'm not sure if I would still be able to keep my front tow hooks and I tend to use them alot pulling dumb-asses out of ditches in the winter time, and when we hit the dunes every summer. If I lose the hooks, I want to make sure the brush guard is on there strong enough to give someone a decent yank at least from the front if need be.

What kind of guard was the one you put on? I bought a used one on ebay without the hardware when I had my 2000 lifted, and that one seemed to have 2 mounts to the frame where the tow hooks are. I can't remember any bumper mounts on it. I never had a chance to put it on. And sold it.

it might have used the tow hook points, but his was a 2wd so no clue. but you can always use longer bolts and add the tow hooks on to the mounts. can't remember what brand, my friend bought the truck with it on and it was line-x'd, but pulling it off his truck and putting it on my friends it was quite simple. and it seemed really tough.i was kinda iffy about the bumper mounts when i saw it but it seemed like a strong overall design

If the truck was stock, I wouldn't worry about the bumper mounts either, but since both the front and rear bumpers are raised on BLs with brackets, that's my concern. You can't tow from the rear bumper or use the rear bumper because of the brackets (or at least you're not suppose to), so I am guessin' it would be a good idea from the front bumper, using the same kind of lift brackets. That's why I would want to use the frame where the tow hooks are to mount the front guard. That's what I'm thinking anyway.

I didnt even think about it till i read this thread tonight how everything around the engine will sit higher. Im interested to see what this would look like from under the hood.

Think a few of you could post some pictures? Can you really even tell a difference or does it look like the engine is sitting pretty far down?

Thx

I'll try to snap a pic or 2 tonight for you. You can tell the engine sits lower, but nothing too drastic at all. I had no problem put a CAI in after the lift was done either.
