first of all, how much do you want to lift it? and what size tires do you want? most guys are running 6 inch pro comp or fabtech and running 35 inch tires. fabtech seems to be the most favored around here.

What exactly are you going to do with the truck? Just want it to look cool and ride nice, or run it through the mud, through the desert? tow with it?...
How much money do you plan on spending?

very good point, my lift/rim/tires/flares is insured at 7 grand. that's how much the local shop quoted me to replace it. i'm just saying it's a lot more than one thinks. depending on what rim and tire combo you wanna run it could be anywhere from a few hundred to a thousand buck a rim and tire. then don't forget about gearing, not necessary but if you tow i feel it is. then you can pick a cheaper lift such as the rough country/pro comp, or a little more is the fabtech or rancho which is a 4 incher. but if you wanna put a stage 2 kit with coilovers up front add another grand to the base kit price. gears can run anywhere from 1000-1800 depending on where and who, obviously its cheaper to do when the lift is being done. its a big can of worms lifting your truck, but its well worth it at the end. and anyone knows that a compliment about your truck makes your day and shop around, you can find deals if your patient and find shops that will wheel and deal, also ebay has alot of good deals and whatnot lately, just a heads up. when chosing a shop, ask around, just because they are cheaper that always aint the deciding factor for me.

well my dad has a guy he has gone trough with his chevy blazer, chevy 3500, chevy 1500, f-350 we can get a good deal with. i wanted a 6in that rides nice not like a tank. and i wanted to put 16x8 DC-1 with 35 bfg tire. it will just be for looks and for the dunes put my quad in. i know the rims are about 150 x 4 so about 600 then tires about 170 x 4 about 680 then the lift kit is idk thats why im here.

do u guys also have any sugestions on what rim size or is 16,8 good or how wide is to wide cuz i dont want the tire to be rubbing when i turn.

Fabtech and ProComp both make 6" kits, IMO Fabtech is the better ridin of the two kits. As far as wheels go the smallest rim that can be put on the 04-08 F150 is a 17(6x135 Bolt Pattern).

Yep, you can add a lot on to what you expected because of minimum 17" tires. Most of the lift kits manufacturers will recommend specific width/backspacing.
The fabtech is a good lift kit, with a nice ride, and the basic kit comes with new shocks instead of spacer up front. That's what I would go with if you can swing it. The 4" rancho looks okay too and seems slightly cheaper. Most people running 6" lifts complain of vibration when driving over 40mph in 4wd due to the front driveshaft angle also.

true that, 17 inch rims are the smallest and then i've heard that's a hit and miss with fitment. rancho is OK just kidding, its a great kit and i'd recommend one to anybody and you can run the stockers safely if needed. the rancho is in fact more, the price you see do no usually include shocks, and those on average are around 400 bucks more.

I don't know how much it will affect a 04-08 150, but when I put a fabtech six on my 02 the truck would sag really bad if I had my quad in it or tow. My quad is a yfz 450 so not that heavy. I tow my firebird every now and then cause I am in the process of rebuilding it. Any way back on subject, I love the lift it rides good but I only had it for a year and the shocks went out so I put bilstein 5100 on the truck. They are a little bit stiffer but I don't want my truck to sag. Then I put new factory leafs on it and it helped a little. All in all look in to BDS lifts I am not sure if they make a six for 04-08 but they do for 97-03. The big difference is you can order a bunch of different combos. Looks like they are a little more expensive but I wish I would have gone with leaf lift rather than blocks in the rear. Sorry post is really long just trying to explain. Oh and the leaf lift might ride a little bit stiffer.

look into the rough country lift. it comes with an add a leaf and block for the rear rather than just a block. it is also pretty cheap only like $1100
