lift kit / wheel question

Do lift kits place the spindle (correct descrip?) at the same depth in the wheel well as stock suspension? I know it can't be far off if any.

In other words, will stock wheels on a 6" fabtech lift, stick out of the fender well any farther than stock ?

Some kits increase the front track width a few inches, some don't. The ones that do this the most are kits for the 97-03 4x2 F-150's. Most kits for the 04-08 F-150's are not bad.

all the lift kits for 04-08 push the front tires out further, only way to make it look "normal' are to run spacers in the back. my rancho pushed the tires out, 2 inches or so, pro comp and fabtech push them out even further.

this is usually recognized as a benefit of a suspension lift, not an ill side effect. it is the correct way of dealing with oversize tires.

FWIW superlift kits do not increase track width. my rear tires stick out just as far as the front.

Fabtech says track width is not increased . .

. . . well the thickness of a Roosevelt . . . so what's up with this ??

I just called Fabtech and was told that the width or track of some kits is made wider than oem, but for an 04' and later f150, it's minimal "like the thickness of a dime" I was told.
So . . . what do you make of that after some of the above comments ?

Like I said, some increase the track width. If Fabtech says it's only a fraction of an inch, they should know.

Having a wider wheel base is good because your center of gravity is raised.

Update - from Fabtech, for the record . . .

since my previous post above, I had to believe Fabtech was mistaken on their comment that the track width is not increased more than the width of a dime with their 6" lift kit.

I just called the factory back and asked again. After Josh inquired with tech, he said the width is bumped out approx 1" on ea side for an '06 - so overall 2" wider track.
