Alignment questions

First off, how much are you guys paying for an alignment?

Next question...I just dropped my truck off for an alignment and they called my 5 minutes later and said there machine was kind of old, therefor it would not hook up onto my wheels...WTF is that all about?

I have XD Rockstars with Mickey Thompson tires. Should this be an issue at all in finding a place able to align my truck? I know plenty about my truck and fixing it, but dont really know anything about how an alignment machine works.

Finally, in the alignment process, should there be any concern of them possibly scratching or harming my wheels in anyway?

Most shops in my area charge $39. A lot of older equipment will not work with large wheels, so that is probably the problem. Also, make sure to inspect your wheels and make sure they didn't scratch them up attemping to make the alignment equipment work.

I do mine myself at work

If you still have your stock wheels, its generally recommended to swap them on for the alignment, just to make sure your wheels dont get damaged. But you will not get a better or worse alignment with your aftermarket wheels on.

Most alignment machines made in the last 8 or less years can handle up to 20" wheels, and have optional adapters that allow for up to 24" wheels
