so my latest issue is that i need to replace the tires on this truck really soon because they are gettin really bald. i figure i will just get the tires i want when i get a lift so im not wasting money duh..i was deciding to go with the 3.5 spindles with 33x12.5s but somehting came up and i dont have enough for the fabtech spindle..is there anything out there that is cheaper that will give me that lifted look and clearance but isnt totally crappy?

a body lift and a leveling kit... however, you will not get the same frame to ground clearance as you would w/ a full suspension lift. also, the leveling kit will make your truck ride stiffer.

how much are you looking to spend for lift + tires? Are you factoring in wheels?

i have 2wd with 3inch body lift, 3.5 spindle lift and 1 1/2 inch leveling kit . The pic shows 33s on 16 inch rims i think you should save you money and go with the 7.5 fabtech after you start lifting you will always wanna go bigger so go big to start or go home lol . Ill have new pics with my set of 35s on 17inch xd spy rims

yea the wheels should be fine for 33's. i kinda wanted to go with the BFG A/Ts since they have somewhat of the look of M/T tires but they last so long. but i mean if there are other tires out there that arte cheaper that look tough and last a while deffinetly let me know. but as of right now i have about $800 to spare so i was going to save for a little bit to be able to afford some type of lift but i need to replace my tires really quick because they are dangerously bald

ok were abouts do you live? Go on Craigslist and get a set of used tires. Doestech (i think thats there name) sells spindles that are just like fabtech but alot cheaper, id check them out.

I will still stand by the fact that you should go with a full suspension lift but seeing how money is an issue then you can work around it.

Heres my plan for you
1. Get a body lift 150-200 (performance accessories)
2. Get a Leveling 2" kit 100 (ebay)
3. 32" used tires 100-300 (craigslist, chuckstrucks, pirate4x4) check the classifieds. And dont be picky just get something that is cheap and will last you untill you have the money to lift alittle more and add 33-35's.
4. Save up money for spindles 300-500 (i havent priced them out in a long time)

alright yea ill think about that one..so when i do finally get the tires i want what would yal go with? im thinking BFG a/t's but if theres anything cheaper ill go for it. i want somehting that looks tuff like the m/t's but lasts forever on the road because my truck wont even be in the mud. also if i just go with the 3.5 spindles is there anything else i will need to do? one of my brothers friends did a body lift on his and said somehting about the power steering lines messed up or somehting? basically if i just put the spindles is it all good to just put the 33's on with no other changes? and do yall know what the stock wheel size is for a 99 2wd f150?

Personally I only have experience with BFG A/T's and I don't even want to look at competition. After what I've put those tires through in mud, highway, trails, rocks, and snow, they still looked healthy after 3 years on my Ranger. In fact, they outlasted the Ranger....it finally blew up on me a few weeks ago...

My new truck has horrible stock tires on it, and my first purchase for it will be some BFG A/T's, no questions asked

I've got no info on lifts for ya, but I'm sure one of these guys will chime in soon enough and help you out there

i had bfg at's on my last truck. i loved them but when i upsized when i got my lift i went with general grabber at2's. they look almost exactly like the bfgs and preform really well and are much cheaper. as for the lift, if you get a spindle lift a) look on ebay i got my entire lift kit for the price of a fabtech spindle and it works great b) you wont need anything to make the truck work besides the spindle and a alignment when your done but with the bigger tires your going to be putting on youll want new/better shocks.

Just a thought......your lift, gears, tires, wheels, & installation will cost more than the Kelly Blue Book value of your truck.

Doesn't really matter what the effect is on Kelly Blue Book.

Bottom line is you will increase the private sale appeal of the truck by upgrading from factory parts, and you'll be happier with the truck than you are now

Good luck with the mods, can't wait to see the finished product

I wish i could break all your fingers so you can stop typing for a few months... what a stupid post.

Man do what you want with the truck. My truck was KBB at 8500 when i bought it for 6k now its worth maybe 2k unless i find someone that wants it exactly how it is.

hope to see some pictures of the finished product

yeah? and MSRP on a truck that's already lifted with big tires is like 12k over a stock truck. there's no way a lift costs that much in addition to wheels, nerf bars, etc. so what if he has more into his truck than what "it's worth?" installing a lift kit isn't that hard if you take your time and can turn a wrench. also, used suspension lifts in good shape on average go for half what they are new. I just bought a fabtech for my truck in excellent shape for $700, you're lucky to see a new one for $1500. there's so many ways to get what you want, and cut the cost while doing it.
