BDS or Rough Country 6" lift

BDS OR ROUGH COUNTRY ...Can anyone give me some feedback on those two 6" kits for my 05 crew cab 4x4. There is a huge price difference, my parts guy couldnt really give me a good answer on why the difference other then the BDS kit is more complete. I dont go off road much with my truck, I just want a nice look and some 35" on it.

hey thanks for the feedback so far guys, I live up in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada and pricing up here is steep... $2500 for BDS plus install and the Rough Country is $1600 plus install. I know the BDS is good but is it almost a grand better....

its cheaper to buy BDS from BDS then if they want that much. i bought my kit from cutten customs and they did the install. Really good guys. there website is cuttencustoms.com also there is a guy on here who works in louisiana for a shop who can also get the kit for you. both im sure will ship if you really want a BDS.

heres both links:

BDS has a great reputation. Rough Country has kind of a mixed rep.

Those 2 kits have essentially the same design. I would NEVER pay over 2k for a lift that doesn't come with replacement shocks. Hell, you can get a Fabtech WITH coilovers for 2500.

If you HAVE to choose between those 2, go with the less expensive one IMO. Those 2 kits aren't that different.

Rough Country seems to sell nothing but cheaper kits, ( price wise) it may seem appealing but when i look at all the other big companies, fabtech, procomp, superlift ect. they all seem to be within a hundred dollars or so of each other with all of their kits, the fact that rough countrys are so cheap just make me think that something has to be different in the kit. whether its where its made or what its made out of, but i may be 100% wrong and if i am i apologize but just from looking at prices i would NOT go with a rough country lift. i wouldnt wanna cheap out on something thats going to be holding my truck in the air.

This post has me a little confused...if you really care about the quality of lift, why did you get a procomp? A big spacer up front, a low protection crossmember, and stacked rear blocks? Not even the Rough Country lift stacks blocks. I'd probably take it over the pro-comp if i absolutely had to have one of those two, it looks to be higher quality than the pro-comp. The pro-comp is damn cheap price wise too.

Where are you looking at getting the Rough Country from? Im in Westren Canada and have been looking at getting one here in B.C. and they are charging just over 1400.00 before shipping. Im gonna install my self but was just wondering if the place your gonna get yours is on-line or a 4x4 specialty store?

I agree with him as well and also with a BDS lift it has a spacer? IMO i would not buy a suspension lift that comes with a spacer and especially stacking blocks. I would not go with the BDS if i were you. Not trying to knock on anyone bc i have a skyjacker but i got the truck with it already on there. Also the skyjacker lift i have has no problem what so ever. Looks good to me and ive done some pretty harsh off roading with it. It doesnt have a spacer or stacking blocks. Also if i were to put the lift on there i would have gone with a rize or fabtech. Thats what my next truck will have.

BDS has 2 6" kits. one with spacer and one with new strut, if i would have known they did at purchase, i would have opted for the kit with new strut. but if you decide on pro comp or the bds with spacer, the truck does ride amazing so don't think your ride quality will go to chit. i think my truck drives much better lifted than it did stock. whats wierd is i don't feel any higher up than i do driving my dad or sisters truck...

and also if you have noticed i have bds and i am backing that. eff one fitty has pro comp he is backing that. msall has fabtech he is backing that. so honestly we probly won't be to much help and you will have to decide on your own. but it does show you that all these brands are made well and constructed well. my reasoning for BDS was the warranty mainly, and the price was right at the time which doesn't look like the case for you. you need to point out to the place telling you $2500 that its cheaper to buy the lift directly from BDS and call their BS.

Ok well first off your talking to me like i am the OP but i am not. Sorry i have had this lift on here for 2 years now and its a skyjacker and have not had any problem with it. I totally back up my skyjacker lift 100%. I MYSELF am saying i would NOT want a kit with a spacer or stacking blocks is all i said. Not knocking on anyone if you couldnt read that from my last post. I honestly dont care what lift you have. I just know what my next truck will have on it.

For some reason Skyjacker decided not to include crossmember support bars for extra front end lateral movement support. Just about every other lift kit does have these, so why they didn't include them i dont know. Do you have an extra AAL? Your truck looks to have as much rake as mine did stock. Without the skidplate, the skyjacker looks to havea similar flat crossmember to the Pro-comp. This is not a bad thing, just a strange way to design a protective feature of the kit (for protecting the front diff.).

Not knocking your truck, i actually really like the look besides the rake. just saying that every lift kit has its positives and its perks.

To the OP: it sounds like this will mainly be a street queen. Therefor, it doesn't matter which kit you get. Search around for the best price, thats my advice. They will all give you the look you want with the street functionality that you demand.
